So this is definitely a question specifically for you, Phil. We've talked about real-time strategies and the genre. With the Activision Blizzard purchase, there's a lot of discussion about Call of Duty, but are there plans for StarCraft, for example?

PS: The first thing I would say is, I'm not allowed to make any decisions about what happens at Blizzard or Activision or King. So this is all just kind of talking and thinking about what the opportunity is, but you're absolutely right. Not only StarCraft, but WarCraft, when you think about the heritage of RTS games that we're talking about here, specifically from Blizzard. And I don't have any concrete plans today because I can't really get in and work with the teams. But StarCraft was a seminal moment in gaming, right? From an esports perspective, from RTS on console perspective, and from just an RTS storytelling perspective in the genre.

And I'm excited about getting to sit down with the teams at Activision and Blizzard and King to talk about back catalog and opportunities that we might have. So I will dodge the question other than to say it's not something I can actively work on right now. But the thought of being able to think about what could happen with those franchises is pretty exciting to me, as somebody who spent a lot of hours playing those games.

Looks like no more Redfall teases, no more mini 5 second teasers, the time has passed for when they usually post them, seems it was just for Halloween and not a release date teaser or anything else.

Game Awards trailer and release date probably, with release in March.

The Series S is apparently losing about $200 per console, while the X is losing about $100 per console

CoD isn't going anywhere anytime soon, new MW2 had the biggest launch in the series by revenue. Xbox made a smart call buying Acti-Blizz for sure.

Here is the launch revenue of all of the CoD games that Activision-Blizzard announced, ranked from highest to least selling as best as I can tell:

  • CoD MW2 (2022)- $800m in 3 days
  • CoD Black Ops 2 (2012)- $500m in 1 day, $1b in 15 days (no 3 or 5 day figure was ever announced by Activision Blizzard, so hard to get an apples to apples comparison to the new CoD MW2 here)
  • CoD MW3 (2011)- $400m in 1 day, $775m in 5 days
  • CoD MW (2019)- $600m in 3 days
  • CoD Black Ops 3 (2015)- $550m in 3 days
  • CoD Black Ops (2010)- $360m in 1 day, $650m in 5 days
  • CoD WW2 (2017)- $500m in 3 days
  • CoD Black Ops 4 (2018)- $500m in 3 days
  • CoD MW2 (2009)- $310m in 1 day, $550m in 5 days
  • CoD Black Ops Cold War (2020)- $678m in 6 weeks (no revenue information was given before this point, but based on $678m in 6 weeks, it did worse than all of the CoD games above it)
  • CoD Vanguard (2021)- No launch revenue given by Activision, but in the UK at least, it had the smallest launch since CoD 4 MW in 2007, meaning lower than all of the above CoD games

Note: We are missing too much info to rank CoD WaW, CoD Ghosts, CoD AW, and CoD IW into the above list. Activision never released launch revenue for 3 of the 4 of them, while CoD Ghosts had a deceptive $1b in 1 day figure given by Activision, which was actually shipped to retailers, not sold-through to consumers. However, we do know that CoD WaW generated approximately $628m in revenue lifetime with 17m unit sales, making it one of the lowest selling games in the series since CoD 4 MW brought the series to the top of the charts. CoD Ghosts made approximately $1.2b in revenue lifetime with 27m copies sold (putting it in the upper half of the series in lifetime unit sales). CoD IW's launch sales were reportedly down by nearly 50% compared to CoD Black Ops 3 the year prior. CoD AW launch sales were reportedly down by 27% compared to CoD Ghosts the year prior.

No way!!! I really enjoyed this one despite it being in early access. PC Game Pass is adding major PC exclusives to its catalog to entice PC gamers. Still waiting for Riot Games to add their benefits to the service.
