Sony is about to remake an almost 6 year old game according to the newest leaks, meanwhile Xbox hasn't given us a single high-end remake since Gears 1 UE in 2015, 7 years ago. Phil's 2nd greatest failing behind his slow Japan improvements imo, his seeming refusal to remake games the last several years when they have so many games now in need of remakes. Halo 3, Halo 3 ODST, Halo Reach, Fable 2, Gears 2 and 3, Forza Horizon 1, Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas. Would love to see a remake of Lost Odyssey and a Jade Empire remake in partnership with EA as well.

Was Gears 1 even a remake? I thought that was more of a remaster with taking the original game adding the new PC levels and improving the visuals. Remake to me is fully remade from the ground up.

Yeah, it was a graphics only remake much like Halo 1 and 2 Anniversary were. A full on-remake would have updated gameplay mechanics and controls and such, as far as I know, Halo 1 and 2 Anniversary and Gears 1 UE were just straight graphics remakes, no gameplay changes or QoL improvements or anything like that.

Yeah that makes sense. There are older titles from Xbox and PlayStation that could use the remaster/remake treatment.
