They will no question about it. Not really something I'd worry about.

Also I'm calling, f2p crap aside, CoD will be console exclusive in the future.

Yeah I don't see why so many people seem to think that CoD will have to stay multiplatform Warzone isn't going anywhere that will remain multiplat but CoD yearly campaign games won't, When CoD is fully accessible on billions of devices via xCloud it not been on 100m PS5 consoles won't mean anything to regulators.

Also like Bethesda the rest of the Acti/Blizz catalog and primary reliant on PC with consoles been the secondary market meaning that massive losses wouldn't happen with Xbox been the exclusive console for them and the growth to Gamepass and increased revenue from pushing people into the Xbox ecosystem could make it back up that it's the better strategy.

Exactly right. Warzone is there for all your multiplat CoD needs. Any new entries in the series, once this deal goes through...best Sony can hope for, imo, is that the MP portion will remain multiplat. They're not getting any new campaigns.

To be fair, I wanted MS to buy a JP publisher like Sega to counter that, or literally buy Square Enix out from under Sony, I didn't want them to buy Activision-Blizzard for $69b, they could have bought every JP publisher except Namco Bandai for less than $69b combined xD

They still might.

Well... there are several and scary options for Sony. Right now, Sony is in a shit hole, they cannot counter stuff like that and this aquisition was big. Microsoft started to get some serious momentum compared to last gen and this is just going to addup.

That being said Sony can answer in multiple ways, and one of them... Is bad...

- Buy Square Enix, release GamePass like service. This is probably not enough tho, but I really believe they are working on something like that

The scary part now:

- They merge with EA (Sony cannot aquire them, people need to realize that Sony Market Cap, is around 140B, only 2 times what MS just payed for Act).
This would be the best option for them I think. They become exactly like MS, they have the hardware and the game, and can really have a similar offering

The last option that is even scarier...:

- Apple... Aquire Sony. This is probably something Apple is looking as an option. And this would be major shockwave in the industry.

In short, I do believe Sony will be able to compete in the long run by themselves...

Tbf, Microsoft makes like, $15bn per quarter? So about $60bn per year in profits? I'm not sure if even Activision-Blizzard stops their acquisition spree...That cash will quickly be replenished.

Love to see it

Blizzard should be split off, Lol.

Should be: Xbox Game Studios | Bethesda | Activision | Blizzard

Disconnect Activision from Blizzard, I think they can both go their own way, someone should run Activision and someone should run Blizzard rather than someone running Activision-Blizzard as a whole.

I'm sooooo agreeing with you. For real, when I saw the news this morning, my brain saw it as "Microsoft aquires Blizzard!" :)

LMAO

As Satya mentioned, I am now CEO, Microsoft Gaming. This change is a reflection of the incredible work each of you are doing to create the best entertainment ecosystem anywhere. As a leadership team, we know how much exciting but difficult work we have ahead of us, so it's crucial that we operate as a single, unified team. To that end, I'm excited to announce effective today that Jerret West, CMO of Gaming, and his marketing team will move from Chris Capossela's organization to report directly to me. Jerret will continue to be a member of Chris' leadership team and leverage critical parts of Microsoft's marketing muscle including Communications, Media, and Consumer Sales.

Phil Spencer email to Xbox employees: RE: Bringing the joy and community of gaming to everyone - Stories (microsoft.com)

Spencer deserves all of this. This guy turned the boat around.

All the haters out there, take this. He is now CEO of Microsoft Gaming, and frankly deserves every bit of it.

Man, it is good to be an Xbox/PC gamers lately...

I absolutely hate this move, out of all the dream scenarios they decide to do this one.

They could have bought WBGames, Sega and Capcom with all that cash and still have more left over.

Activision offer nothing to Xbox considering that more than half of their studios are CoD teams (CoD won’t even be exclusive lol) and they just killed Vicarious Vision to be a support studio for Blizzard.

Imo this absolutely kills any chances at them buying a Japanese publisher because any more moves that they do after this will likely be blocked.

Watch Sony respond by buying Square Enix where’s they will actually get exclusive games.

I did not expect this at all, that's an insane purchase from Microsoft.
