Unlikely because Horizon 3 was delisted in September 2020.

The one thing I hate about the Forza series. Microsoft really cheap out on the licenses which means all the games disappear after 3-ish years. Hate it. Spend a bit more money Microsoft and get longer-term licenses, Forza is successful enough for it.

Other racing series don't have this problem.

GT6 lasted 5 years (this was taken down at same time as online services so may not be anything to do with licenses)
Project cars doesn't get delisted.
Need for Speed doesn't get delisted.
Grid doesn't get delisted.
The Crew doesn't get delisted.

Wish more people kicked up a fuss about it because I'd love to play FH1/2 and the old FM's too. Sure you can get a disc but no good if you have a Series S and even then all the DLC is gone forever.

Really pisses me off.

Hopefully Forza Motorsport won't have that problem anymore if the speculation is accurate about it being a one entry per gen thing now (or maybe two), it is a soft reboot with no number or subtitle so I think it could be. Forza Motorsport really doesn't need more than two entries per gen, that should be the max with one per gen being preferable, this Forza Motorsport can be the only Forza Motorsport for Game Pass with a 10 year support plan like Flight Sim, I'm sure Microsoft doesn't like having to remove their own IPs from Game Pass either so it makes sense.

Forza Horizon on the other hand, I doubt they'll ever do a "Forza Horizon: World" but that does sound cool, Lol. Hopefully they stick to the 3 year development schedule instead of the usual 2 which will at least keep them alive for longer per entry.

Yeah if it was one per gen that would definitely solve the problem. It honestly makes more sense to do a single continual title for Forza games. As much as everyone hates "GAAS" for some series it just makes sense, generally the annualised/semi-annualised ones. There's no need for "Forza 5, Forza 6, Forza 7" on one console when you could have one game that is continually updated. Same with stuff like Fifa.

FH4 is already full of seasonal content so it wouldn't be much of a step.

I wonder what a sports/racing game would have to do these days to land an average score in the high 90s. Off the top of my head, I don't think it's happened since like the very early 2000s. Seems like there's a bit of a glass ceiling for how highly game reviewers are willing to rate these types of games.

The biggest thing with the Forza Horizon games is that they aren't full on racing games, perce. They're more Adventure games where you have main quests, side quests in an open world environment. You just happen to be in a car at all times. Of course there's still the traditional racing, but there's so much more to it.

Forza Motorsport is the traditional sports/racing game akin to Gran Turismo. The next FM releases late next year at the earliest and will be a next-gen exclusive whereas FH5 is a cross-gen, so I'm greatly looking forward to what the next FM will look like since it's much more constrained compared to the open-world FH5.

So it looks like GOTY nominees are going to be Metroid Dread, Deathloop, It Takes Two, Psychonauts 2 , Hitman 3 and Rachet and Clank.

One of those will likely not get nominated and even if by some miracle FH5 gets nominated it will never win the overall prize. Imo Metroid Dread will take it this year.

Possibly Returnal too. It already has a GOTY award this year.

Returnal is meh to me and I don’t believe that it should be nominated imo, there are 3 other games that I didn’t mention that have a higher rating Monster Hunter Rise, Deaths Door and Tales if Arise. The latter two I don’t believe will be nominated but have a good chance of winning Indie GOTY and RPG GOTY.

What is the cut-off data for GOTY? Is Demon's Souls counted as this year with it's Nov 12th date? if so that'd be the highest rated on meta. But If FH5 is up for GOTY awards this year I guess Demon's Souls was for last year? Though I thought usually around the end of October is the cut off for nominations.

Demon's Souls wasn't nominated for The Game Awards last year though so makes me think it's in the running this year, or maybe due to it's unfortunate date for this kind of thing it's long forgotten lol.

I believe it was November 15th last year, so Demon's Souls Remake doesn't make the window, it would have been eligible for the 2020 awards. The only big game from 2020 that missed the cutoff was Cyberpunk 2077, and it's disappointing release state and slow improvements via patches in 2021 pretty much kill any chance of it getting a GOTY nomination this year.

Ah read article about it. Why some of 2020’s big games didn’t get Game Awards nominations - Polygon

"Outlets submit unranked lists of games for each category, with at least three nominations in each. To be eligible, the game must be released before Nov. 20, which makes it tricky to vote for games like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Watch Dogs: Legion, Demon’s Souls, or any other game released in early to mid-November. A lot of people simply hadn’t played those games yet, excepting those members of the press who had advance copies. (In the case of Demon’s Souls, advance copies were not made available.)"

So I guess that's why a 92 meta game wasn't even nominated lol.

Josh Sawyer Obsidian game details from Grubbsnax : GamingLeaksAndRumours

  • Focusing on experimental mechanics and interactions.
  • It's still being developed by a small team.
  • 16th century Europe setting.
  • Still planned to have no combat.
  • Murder mystery RPG. You will be investigating a murder by talking to people and building a case. You can accuse people of murder. You will possibly continue to play even if you get it wrong and see the consequences.
  • Planned to be coming out in 2022.

So, basically, something akin to Disco Elysium

I'm okay with that. DE was amazing! I like the setting and with Obsidian's writing talents, I'm very optimistic for this title!

Just got done with watching the Elden Ring gameplay preview. Certain textures were pretty soupy (rock walls, stone floors, scene where is standing on part of a wooden wagon). No shadows being cast by the character or objects in the dungeons. Graphically not impressive. It looked like a collage between 12, 8, 4, and 2 years old tech. It said in fine print that it is not the final build (thank goodness). I hope more polishing goes into it before release.

Many of the comments from the Youtube and from here thinks it looks excellent, maybe I'm expecting too much.

Since Ryuu is probably sleeping...

I'm really pissed off by that :( I own EVERY possible collector edition of the Halo and there is no way I will be able to get my hands on this one unless I pay a fortune on eBay. Not cool Microsoft... not cool...

Screenshots from Elden Ring

Here is the stones the character was jumping down to.

Hole in the world.  Glitches in and out during video.  Weak wall textures.

Jeez, not a whole lot to say here.

In this scene here, near the beginning of the video, all the trees are moving together in unison no matter their distance from each other.  All it needed was a techno beat in the background.

Shadows appear for character whilst outside.

No shadows.

No shadows cast by objects or by the character.
