That's the point though. It isn't supposed to be subtle. It isn't there for us. We know it's cross generation. We know it's cross play, we know it's cross progression.

Bobby Nottagamer buying it for his son for Christmas, he has no idea. He has that as an obvious visual reference point now. It works out well for him as he couldn't find a series X for his son this year.

Granny can't afford a console on her retirement pension/super income stream but also wants to by something brand new for grandkid. She knows they have an Xbox, that's all.... They think it's an xbox one and are happy to see that it works on the old one too...

So it looks like GOTY nominees are going to be Metroid Dread, Deathloop, It Takes Two, Psychonauts 2 , Hitman 3 and Rachet and Clank.

One of those will likely not get nominated and even if by some miracle FH5 gets nominated it will never win the overall prize. Imo Metroid Dread will take it this year.

I wonder what a sports/racing game would have to do these days to land an average score in the high 90s. Off the top of my head, I don't think it's happened since like the very early 2000s. Seems like there's a bit of a glass ceiling for how highly game reviewers are willing to rate these types of games.

I predicted 91 in the thread... It's consistent quality is undeniable at this point.

I predicted 90. Metascores usually decline a point or two after release so I'm optimistic I'll at least finish close.

Only reason the game isn't on my radar day one is that I haven't started Forza Horizon 4 yet. Hopefully there'll be a Series X update for Horizon 3 at some point, because I'd love to revisit that too.

Unlikely because Horizon 3 was delisted in September 2020.

The one thing I hate about the Forza series. Microsoft really cheap out on the licenses which means all the games disappear after 3-ish years. Hate it. Spend a bit more money Microsoft and get longer-term licenses, Forza is successful enough for it.

Other racing series don't have this problem.

GT6 lasted 5 years (this was taken down at same time as online services so may not be anything to do with licenses)
Project cars doesn't get delisted.
Need for Speed doesn't get delisted.
Grid doesn't get delisted.
The Crew doesn't get delisted.

Wish more people kicked up a fuss about it because I'd love to play FH1/2 and the old FM's too. Sure you can get a disc but no good if you have a Series S and even then all the DLC is gone forever.
