For people asking for them to bring back Viva piñata, I think they will after Banjo and Perfect dark if they continue the Rare revivals. It’s only logical based on sales, and the fact Xbox doesn’t have another game like it.
Here’s the order of what Rare games should come back
1. Banjo Kazooie
sales
banjo-kazooie - 3.65m
banjo-tooie - 1.49m
banjo nuts n bolts - 0.76m
Despite changing genres and skipping a gen nuts and bolts nearly hit 1m. It’s also worth noting that Banjo has been seen as almost a second mascot of sorts appearing both in Sega all-stars racing and Super Smash bro’s. Couple this with the reassurance in 3D platformer this really makes it a no brainer to be brought back.
2. Perfect Dark
sales:
perfect dark (n64) - 2.52m
perfect dark zero - 0.77m
perfect dark xbla - 1m?
using VGC numbers, I remember PDZ being over 1m but the Europe data got deleted. I also remember the XBL PD selling over 1m if memory serves me right. Which is pretty impressive. Although sitting at no2, I can understand why they would bring it back first. The Xbox audience might take to it more than a platformer so I’m not mad about that. Let’s hope we see it on the 23rd.
3. Viva Piñata
sales:
Viva piñata - 1.62m
viva piñata TiP - 0.47m
Although I was mainly focusing on the main entries it worth noting that Pocket Paradise on the DS sold over half a million. I feel like this game could be killer on GP and could easily fill a niche.
4. Conker
sales:
conkers bad fur day - 0.77m
Conker live and reloaded - 0.71m
My personal favorite of the bunch, and there’s no denying that both games got kinda screwed by releasing at the end of the generations. I remember Chris saying he had a choice of either doing BFD2 on 360 or doing the remake on Xbox and he wished he picked BFD2. Hopefully one of these days we’ll see it.
