It's just a patent folks, it means fuck all for Xbox VR plans or lack of. Their R&D team, probably working on hololens, came up with this and for all we know it might just be patented to lock it away.

Could even be a patent troll.

Would be funny MS entering in court to process someone that sell the product and they don't have a VR on their console, no VR game, no mat, etc...

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

A ventilation device for different kinds of airflows and smells would be a good addition to VR for being immersed, smelling grass ,pine trees together with a slight breeze would be nice while "walking" in a digital forest.

Which is a dick move.... stuff like that shouldnt be allowed.
Its nuts you can patent something you never even want to try to make a product out of.

Would be sad to see one of the richest companies in the world, abuse the patent system for a quick buck.
That wouldn't be funny, it would be greedy and a sad showing of the reality of how broken certain systems are.
