Forums - Gaming - If you own a Wii, you MUST buy Godfather.

Godfather? Haven't people already learned that all movie-to-games suck? The game got poor reviews (70%-79%). And even worse, the game has better graphics on the Xbox. Get Zelda, or Wario Ware, or anything with reviews with 80%+, and make sure it's not a movie-to-game, because those just ruin the video game libraries.

alex & cklmb --- umm have you even played it? It is a really nice game. I got it for $38 off of ebay and it is a great game. Controls are definately better than anyother port and most wii made games, the graphics are just fine (granted I am not a graphic whore). Lastly, it is not that much of a 'movie to game' type of game. It has elements of the Godfather movies, rpg's, and GTA. You can walk around and simply ruff people up, pay off cops, have them jump in gunfights with you as you take out other families, 'persuade' shop owners to pay you, along with the main quest as you move up the ranks.

If you own a Wii and enjoy sandbox games, this is a must have. It may or may not look better on the 360, but I couldn't imagine hitting some one by pressing 'X' or whatever. It's much better to jab and hook in real life. Choking someone to death by pressing our hands together is sadistically enjoyable. Slamming people's head on walls and tables by tossing your hands that particular direction is f'ing fun.

Basically, buy it new or used, just buy it.

OK, now I know why godfather was sold, I was joking   (my post above about Deliverance/dueling banjo's)

It seems Hill billy did buy the last one because he thought slamming heads, meant squealing!!! and tossing something else..... gotcha!   Looks like I will try next week, The lady didnt even know when they would get new ones in? how astute is that for your job?

Maybe I will look on ebay, just have my wife create an account

Yep I just beat Godfather: Blackhand Edition today. Solid 30 hrs just to beat all missions, extort all businesses, take over all rackets, and take out all compounds and families. I still have a lot to do like upgrade all my stats, crack all safes, and get all those little film things lying around in the level. And it's really not if your looking for a sandbox style game but if your looking for a good hardcore game that has lots of depth in game to followup on LoZ: Twilight Princess this is your game. The controls are amazing, depth is amaizng, and just an overall fun game to play.

Yes, an excellent game which really shows how the wiimote can greatly add to a game. Great fighting controls, cant beat em.

A delayed game is good someday, a bad game is bad forever.

I was going to reply to alex59, then I decided not to.

Yes I've played it that's why I said it's nothing special, I rented it but didn't feel inclined to play it to the end. The motion controls are good but I'd rather wait for a game like Manhunt 2 which has great wii controls and is actually a good game.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

I'll give The Godfather: Blackhand Edition a glowing endorsement as a Wii title, and here's why: My wife would occasionally watch and kibitz when I played GTA: Vice City, but she never showed any interest in picking up the controller. But she achieved "Don of NYC" before I did on the Wii Godfather game. Never underestimate the Wii's fundamental appeal to the uninitiated: doing something with your hands beats pressing buttons. I'm thinking about picking up Mortal Kombat: Armageddon when it comes out -- I'm not a big fan of fighting games historically, but the motion controls may be calling me to battle.
