Forums - Microsoft - Rumour: GTAIV DLC on Xbox 360 will include new city!!!!!! OMFG!!!!

Actually come to think of it something in the 3-4gig range wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility. Especially now that they're selling Xbox Originals over Live.

Add in the fact that MS is pushing HD movies-on-demand, and that probably doesn't seem like a lot of data to MS.

When does Take Two fiscal year start/end. I cant believe that they would release GTA4 and something equivalent to GTA3:SA in the same fiscal year, it just doesn't make sense.

Also, how much is this downloadable content going to cost? Because they could sell something equivalent to GTA3:SA for $60 for fall 09.

TT ends it's financial year in June.  That means releasing the DLC later this year would have it in a seperate financial year to the incomplete GTAIV experience this financial year.

 Well that makes more sense.

So is the PS3 just getting GTA4: Prologue...

He is right of course. If Rockstar get more than $50 million in DLC revenue they get to keep the excess. Arranging the DLC could have been another reason for the 6 month delay. At the end of the day Microsoft didn't loan them $50 million for some horse armour. These may not be SA or VC big, but they will be BIG. Also, remember this. They won't have to include the game engine or drivers in the DLC, as they will already be on the disc. You could easily have 3-4gb downloads that could be monstrous in size.

The truth is, no one knows what the DLC is. It could be horse armor. They haven't said exactly what it is. It could be new skins for Niko or something.

Now I don't think it's that, I believe it's more missions, or an addition to the storyline, rather than new cities. But it's possible that it could be anything, since they haven't said exactly what it is, and why would they be so tight-lipped with something as "BIG", as you say it is?

I agree that it's difficult to say for certain, but two items seem fairly clear:

1. TT needed money badly

2. MS probably wanted to get some major bang for loaning $50m.  That's not chump change, even in the world of current-gen software development.  What was the Uncharted budget?

Of course TT doesn't want to come out and say, "we were really hurting for money so we had to sell our souls and agree to make a GTA that definitely favors one platform over another."  They're going to keep trying to downplay what they've done in public to keep the other-platform fanatics from throwing fits all over them.

I know I'm going to likely get lynched for saying this, but at the end of the day it's just a game, folks.  The world won't stop spinning if the 360 version of GTAIV ends up being better than the PS3 version.  I can remember when all the Mac fans (myself included) were champing at the bit to get our hands on Halo, only to hear that the Evil MS Empire had bought Bungie and were going to make Halo exclusive to the Xbox.  The howls of frustration and rage at Bungie for "selling their souls" was legendary.  But in time we got over it... in the end it was just a game after all.

A new city would be like 5 gigs. That would eat up the 9-10 gigs the average 360 owner has..

So it's like 5 gigs yet it eats 9-10. Are you feeling ok?

Also on live(dont know about PSN) once youve paid for it. If you delete and re download later you dont need to pay again.

Not necessarily, if they re-use some of the textures, all they really need is geometry and AI paths. The shivering isles DLC for oblivion is less than 1gig.

If the DlC is a new city I will defintely buy it if not I don't think it is worth it.
