Forums - Microsoft - Rumour: GTAIV DLC on Xbox 360 will include new city!!!!!! OMFG!!!!

The 50 million was a loan, not a gift for exclusive content. And the loan got them some EEC, but they wouldn't screw Sony over some money, Sony was the only system willing to give GTA III a chance, when Nintendo and MS didn't want to touch it. If you all think back, you can remember how no one wanted the game on the system beside Sony. I don't think that R* and TT would do that to the company that helped them.

 What does EEC stand for?

I can almost guarantee everyone this is coming from what 360 PR said at GDC when they said "our DLC is going to be big. just like how VC was big to GTA3 think of it like that" and everyone was like "OMG GTA4 DLC IS GOING TO BE AS BIG AS 2 NEW GAMES DLC FTW LOLZ!!?!?!?!"

i'll repeat myself one more time

GTA4 is going to be much smaller than Vice City or San Andreas and yet you think the DLC is going to be as big?

And you think MS gave R* a $50m advance in exchange for content that could easily generate over $1 billion in revenue?

And yet MS have decided to keep quiet about it?

And all this despite the fact that R* have claimed that the content will be about 10hrs in length?

World of Warcraft spells WOW. Just WOW.

I usually enjoy your fanboyism, starcraft, as you are the only 360 fanboy that has the balls to constantly talk smack even though your console of choice is all but guaranteed to come a distant third this generation, but this is the most delusional comment I have ever heard on VGchartz. And I'm including the legendary claim that the Wii will sell 750m units when it is released in China.

 ^this.

Just like to point out, If you were the head of a company and were very close to the edge finacially would you A) say no to a company to try to stay faithful to another with at the time alot less hardware? Or B) be grateful your arse was being saved and take the money for in return whatever they wanted.

I just find it so weird.

Take-Two has no loyalty.

hm. Is Sony loyal to gamers? With the PS3 didn't they risk their entire gaming business and the PS brand on the BluRay format? Yes. Why? Potential profit. It's business. Without M$ 50 mill loan there might not be GTA4. At the end of the day, it's all business.

BAM! There it is!

Bigger than VC, and more detailed with more interiers and far more dense than SA

There are two episodes, so one could easily be the other borough of NYC and then the other might be something completely different, maybe some extra MP modes and stuff

Uhh... no?

Risk their entire game business? Guess you forget about the PS1, PS2, and PSP. And even if they did, has it worked out? Uhh... yeah. They won the format war, and the PS3 is selling much healthier since then.

The only people who believe sony 'risked their gaming business for Blu-Ray' are people who fail to see that there was no risk there, simply an opportunity that presented itself, and worked out for the better of the company as a whole.

You make it sound like TT and Sony are two friends on the street.  That isn't how business works.

I wouldn't say no loyalty. But when your back is against the wall you need to take all the help you can get.

What's more important?  Staying alive or being loyal?

Most people don't have that kind of loyalty, let alone companies which are by in large built to be ammoral and to just make the most money they can.

Here's another way to look at this...

You're president of a small-to-medium sized company (most game companies are), and you personally walk past past 20-30 people every day that work for you... you might even know quite a few of them.  You know that you can't meet payroll and you'll have to start laying off if something doesn't happen soon.

So, who are you going to be loyal to?  Those who work for you, or a mega company that provided a technology that made money for you in years past?  Seems like an obvious answer to me.

I understand business.

But I also understand that GTA wouldn't have been as huge as if it was, if the game never came out.  And with no other console manufacturer looking to take this game on, except for Sony, you'd think that they'd have some sort of loyalty to them, for helping make GTA as big of a game as it is today.  But I digress.  This is the business world.  Money talks, and favors are quickly forgotten.  It's sad though, I thought that TT had a soul.
