Many people forget that the NES didn't had a big 3d party support when it started mainly because many companies didn't trusted it. a couple of years later, things changed.
Read the link in my sig. Then you will know how the wii will get it's third party. It is most comparable to the ds.
In comparison to the PS3 and XBox 360 the Wii could have a lot more major third party exclusive games by the end of this generation than the other systems. Beyond the obvious argument about development cost and sales, consider how long these major third party exclusives take to develop for these systems ...
Metal Gear Solid 4 was said to have began development before the Tokoyo Game Show 2005, which means that it has already been in development for at least two and a half years (possibly closer to three); if Konami started Metal Gear Solid 5 the second they complete Metal Gear Solid 4, assuming a similar development cycle Metal Gear Solid 5 would be released in the dying days of the PS3. Metal Gear is not a unique situation as many of the PS3's biggest exclusive games have seen several delays, and games that were assumed to be released in 2007 won't be seen until late 2009.
The Wii's development lifecycle is much closer to that of previous generation systems, which for "Major" games is typically 18 to 24 months; the shorter lifecycle means that a developer who started work on the Wii today can still (probably) complete two games before the generation is (entirely) over.
"In comparison to the PS3 and XBox 360 the Wii could have a lot more major third party exclusive games by the end of this generation than the other systems"
That´s the issue I´m really curious to find out,HappySqurriel.
It seems to me none of the current gen home systems,so far at least, are really "the PS2´s spiritual successor".
Though the PS3 and 360 continue to get the major 3rd party titles, they don´t dominate the way PS2 was,in the same time frame.
And while the Wii dominates, sales wise, even better than the PS2,it lacks major 3rd party titles the PS2 was already getting,in the same time frame.
There´s the issue 3rd parties were writing off the Wii as a 'serious' system before its launch, thus all the "big" games were headed the PS3/360 way,but as time goes on,when would we expect to start seeing major, and I mean MAJOR announcements for the Wii from 3rd parties?....E3 this year?...E3 2009?..TGS this year?
BengaBenga, you think Capcom is secretly developing a new MegaMan title?....would you like it to be for WiiWare?

Wii is a fad! no core gamers playing the wii anymore. most of the wii software are bunch of mini games and shovelwares, only moms and kids plays wii now wii is doomed... seriously now, this topic is done over and over do you feel tired?
end of core gaming days prediction:
E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced
E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

"I've said and I maintain that it'll get a lot less 3rd party support than the market leaser usually does."
Mummelmann,if that happens,it´ll only reinforce my belief that this is the strangest generation I´ve ever seen...I mean, the patterns I was used to since the 16-bit era are going away...

I'm sure Capcom is developing a Mega Man game for Wii. I hope it's a real one, not some strange spin off. I don't care if it's WiiWare or retail as long as it's something like Mega Man 2.
The big benefit of WiiWare is that 2.5D (instead of 3D) is much more accepted, and I think Mega Man doesn't belong in 3D, unless Capcom can do what Retro did with Metroid.
"I think Mega Man doesn't belong in 3D, unless Capcom can do what Retro did with Metroid."
Agreed...if devs just can´t make a smooth transition from 2D to 3D,then let it remain 2D...MegaMan and Castlevania are prime examples.
