I want to cover all information possible in this thread so we figure out which game is it going to be, before they do reveal it.
YOU CAN SCROLL DOWN TO THE BOLDED PART IF YOU WANT TL;DR.
What we have:
Right now the biggest candidate based on the media out there is Demon's Souls... but is it actually it?
From the looks of it, it's VERY likely a Sony IP, because the last piece of information we got some hours ago came from an interview about the PS5 with Mark Cerny, Sony staff and Bluepoint's president... for some reason.
Bluepoint has also said it's a big project, much more ambitious than Shadow of the Colossus and it's not what they would call a remake (they call SotC a remake) but a re-envisioning.
I don't remember who (it was Colin Moriarty) also said about the project that "the soul still burns".
Jason Schreier has now also hinted twice that Demon's Souls is getting a remaster/remake (one some months ago, the other yesterday when he voted on it on ResetEra's poll for which game is Bluepoint remaking).
Also, someone working for Bluepoint has his job description saying he is hired to make character, armor and weapon assets, which very likely points to a RPG, specially medieval themed (works for both D'sS and LoD).
So all that do points a lot for Demon's Souls.
The soul remark, being a classic and a big game (Demon's Souls spawned a whole genre by now), medieval game, and the re-envisioning could be turning it into an open world like Dark Souls, plus adding a lot of the new mechanics from the newer games to it.
It all sounds very likely, indeed, and every site seems to think it is it, but what else could it be?
My pick would be The Legend of Dragoon (EVERYBODY'SGETSSHOCKED.gif)
First, it's one of Sony's oldest IPs that they actually still remain to do something with.
It's definitely a cult classic, you may know BraLoD here, but a good bunch of other people have been claiming for it for years now.
It's Sony biggest game ever, the thing is massive.
So it does also fit in most of the hints (even the one about the soul still burns, even if it has nothing to do with souls per se, it may be a reference to it's nearly 20 year of waiting to get something done with).
A Bluepoint guy has even said he loves the game and mentioned that it "perhaps should be a project" in August this year (2019 for future reference).
But here it also gets a big point against it. It could very well mean they are not working on it, as "perhaps should" means "it's still not", though it could be proposital.
And Shuhei Yoshida has also responded saying he doesn't know about a LoD Remaster being in the works in September (again, 2019).
But he also said they could do it quickly, but he knows people would be expecting a FF7 scale Remake, not a remaster.
That can also be proposital, he denied a remaster, not a remake, and purposedly mentioned FF7 and said he knows that's the scale of how it should be. And what is that scale? A big one, almost a re-invention.
Anyway, I'm a fanboy, I'll find hints where there may be none, but to me it's VERY likely one of these two, at the very least.
DON'T WANNA READ ALL THAT CRAP? JUMP DOWN HERE!
But what do you think? Which games could also fit in what we have already heard? Let me know.
It really sounds like it's Demon's Souls...
But it's gonna be LoD anyway.
Update: Breaking down their tease on twitter.
