It’s not 20 million more or so... it’s more like half a billion if he plays to 40.  Add in sponsors, commercials, and all that other extra stuff and it is even more.  That is a lot of money... if he moves on to something else then good for him, but I still think he will be back.  We will see.

There's no way he's playing until he's 40 with his list of injuries. Torn cartilage in ribs, partially torn abdomen, lacerated kidney, torn labrum, calf ankle of some sort, and at least one concussion. The guy's already missed 26 games in his career. Guys like Tom Brady and Drew Brees who have stayed relatively healthy could aim for something like that, but Luck would never make it that long, at least not without the quality of his play dropping sharply and turning into an even more zombiefied version of 2015 Peyton Manning.

How did Luck get this beat up and yet Brady and Brees are still playing seemingly fine? My brother who's a Colts fan says the o line just did a terrible job protecting him...

Regular season really can't start soon enough. So sick of baseball being the only major sport on.

Combination of horrendous offensive line and a clueless medical staff. They had him playing through a shoulder injury thinking it was just a pain issue and giving him shots to numb the pain. It was over a year before they realized he had torn cartilage and needed surgery. And then setbacks in rehab cost him the whole season.

Brady and Brees have always had good lines around them and a great coaching staff. The Colts staff that was around when Luck was getting killed, wouldn’t even make adjustments to protect him during games. If he’d had Reich and that line a few seasons earlier he might still be playing, even with that terrible medical staff.

Couple announcements/reminders.

First is that the regular season starts next Thursday, with Packers @ Bears at 8:30 or so Eastern. If you want to participate in the preseason predictions, be sure to enter yours before then.

Second is that, since we're a week away from the regular season now, the first set of weekly predictions is open! As I mentioned previously, I'm trying something a little differently this year, using google forms instead of the standard bracket fill out we used to use. You can see the first slate of picks here.

You should be able to edit predictions on the same form after they're made. Since this would mean that no one but myself would be monitoring my predictions, however, I will post my picks on this thread every week.

Can you post the week 1 table by Sunday so I can get my picks done for week 1 this weekend

Doesn't look like there's gonna be a lot of us this year

I blame the long preseason or rol no longer running it.  Jking but if you think about it the preseason is so fucking boring that by time week 1 starts people are like oh it finally started.

A lot of it is just luck and genetic luck.  Some are more injury prone.

Edit

Also I'll do weekly picks.  Sounds fun.

Gonna bold this since I guess my previous post got buried.

I mentioned this in the opening post and in the post directly preceding yours, but I'm going to try a different way of doing predictions this year unless people have a strong objection to it. Instead of filling out a table, fill out this google form. It makes it easier for me to import picks and reduces the chances of a mistake.

Everything within should be self explanatory, but if something doesn't make sense for some reason, let me know.
