Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release. (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

I'll be the first one to say that I'm really not that excited about this unlockable content.
These kind of rediculous achievments are totally catered toward the hardcore junkies that do nothing but play TF2 and I can see this being a problem in gameplay.
-Half of these achievements are rediculous and distracts from the objective of the game - winning as a team. Achievement happy Medics are going to prioritize getting the dumb achievements rather than taking the appropriate action in that situation. I can just see a lot of ubers wasted for the sake of 1 medics personal achievement. Or maybe a Medic swinging his bonesaw just to get those kills instead of healing his teammates.
-It gives unfair advantage to the ones that have unlocked it. Not everyone plays medic and I can bet a lot of people simply don't have the time and/or 'friends' to cooperate and get these achivements.
So you have the Medic with a vampire syringegun vs a Medic with normal gun. Too bad for the Medic with normal gun!
So whats next, the different classes get the same kind of rediculous achievents/unlockable updates? If this is Valves ideal way of extending the life of TF2, it's executed poorly imo.
I wouldn't be complaining if these didn't come in unlockable form, as I don't see the above 2 being a huge problem.
Just my thoughts. I'm excited to see goldrush map tho.
crappy old school NES games are more entertaining than next-gen games.
I'll admit I play TF2 a lot, so this isn't an issue to me.
And while yeah, it might suck that not everyone can have the crazy vampire syringegun right away, it's not unbalanced or anything...the draining syringegun cannot fire crits, unlike the regular gun...so that should balance it out.
I don't know how they'll balance out the crazy Ubersaw...maybe it doesn't actually do much damage...just charges your meter with a few hits...either way the servers aren't exactly going to be packed with Ubersaws.

well Ben, I have Medic tied with Spy for most hours played with 49 hours.
I'm almost certain I can get 12 achievements for the Vampire gun but I don't know about 24...actually that doesn'y really bother me because I don't think a critzcrieg is any better than a invulnerable unless it lasts like 30 seconds or something.
I wouldn't even worry about the Ubersaw, theres no way anyone can get this without co-operating with 12 or so 'friends' on a private server or something.

WOW.... man everyone is gonna rape medic for the first few weeks after the update. any news, btw, on when the update is???
medic is my least used- 3 hours- but my top score is 100 points on 2fort instaspawn :P
Bet With routsounmanman: By the end of Q1 2008 Capcom WONT have announced a RE5 Wii Edition OR a new RE (classic gameplay) for the Wii (WON)
God I hate instantrespawn, 2fort, and I'm assuming you're a sniper? That's just so...dull to me.

I like instant respawn or at least a 5 second respawn time because I think a 15-20 second respawn time is a little too extreme.
Instant respawn ruins game balance. The respawn times are supposed to be tuned to the nature of the map.
I think instant for offense, 5 seconds for defense on dustbowl isn't too bad. It allows offense to make a charge but also gives people time to play without long waits.
I love the idea of new achievements, and lots of them! I loved the first few weeks when I was achieving things but having got most of them, there's not much fun there for me :(.
As for the weapons, I can't decide on them. The syringe gun seems useless since I've never really seen a medic get that caught in the fray that it would be worth trying to fight. Likewise, the uberblade is okay but really, I don't do too much up close combat so it's just good whe nyou find a spy. The critical charger is awesome though. Talk about an interesting debate. Heal your front guy or give him more damage?
