Forums - Microsoft - Is a modded 360 really worth it?

My friend has a modded ps2, psp, ps1 and now he wants to mod his 360. I told him thats not a good idea as you will get banned from live. He said when he wants to play online he will use the real game not the burnt disc.

Doesnt Microsoft detect a mod chip in your system and not the game? So if he plays online with his real game he will still get banned right?

Is modding a 360 really worth the 6 hours of online play then getting caught by microsoft and banned?

How many of you have a modded 360, and have you been banned from live?

If he wants to play online don't mod the 360 it will be worthless.

No it is not worth it. Although that didn't stop a lot of people from doing it on the original Xbox.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Modding is stupid, tell him that.

He will get a lifetime ban from Microsoft probably. Now that's some pure ownage right there!

Yeah, but he won't get permanently banned, just until the year 9999, then he can get back on.

my friend has a modded 360. he plays halo 3 on a dvd-r, and he uses xbox live. i don't know how, but he does. i went to his house because i thought he was lying, but he wasn't and i saw him put in the recodable dvd and halo 3 came up, then he actually played an online match.

Permaban from live if he mods it, doesn't matter if he use original discs to play online.

Actually, if he gets banned, he will need to buy other console and get another live account, it's the only way.

Actually, he may or may not get caught. But if it does it's permaban.

Last time microsoft caught modders was when they released halo 3 beta on crackdown, who blocked a lot of modded consoles. Maybe if he mods it and check before getting a game he'll have no problem.
