Are you kidding? This game needs it, it needs it's comedy, else it'll be another emo cry fest like FF13 was. We need silly, we need Cait Sith trying to predict the future knowing he can't but actually getting it right. We need to be able to go on dates with Barrett or Cid. We need Barrett keeping his sailor suit as pajamas. We need the party to make Cloud the one going to Junon then running off and igoring him. We need "This guy are sick." We need Hojo chilling on the beach in full lab outfit with girls around him.

And we need every single moment of cross-dressing Cloud. From a Honey Bee Inn Bee doing his make up, squats in the gym, to the party threatening to rip off Don's balls.

What's the point of a remake if they aren't actually going to remake what made it so great?

That boss battle looked pretty good! I wasn't excited at all for this game before E3, so good job Square. I only wish it wasn't episodic...

Is this sort of thinking that gets "your mom" jokes into Star Wars.

Comedy is tricky to get right. If yours has aged poorly, better to remove it. See the Resident Evil Remake.

If the original had 'your mum' jokes in as it was part of the script as a comedy, then sure, why wouldn't they include them if they were remaking it? They aren't adding jokes, they are the same jokes from FF7. Only thing I'd question is Scarlet vs Tifa slap fight.

It's not tricky if it already works, how does the idea of a wolf creature trying to fit into a sailor outfit and walking on it's hind legs offend you? How is that not funny?

I'm definitely interested in this even though I didn't like the original. Surprising to see how big the first game is.

I actually think all of these might still work... I do hope they won't show any glimpse of this though and it will be a surprise to all.

Isn't a remake an opportunity to make things better? Not being blindly attached to everything for nostalgia factors. FFVII was developed and translated very quickly, in a rush even, I'd say. I'm sure its developers and script writers already had a list of a thousand things in their minds, back in 1997, that they wish they'd done differently.

It doesn't offend me, anyway. It's just a moment of Discovery Kids-tier comedy which breaks suspension of disbelief hard, and makes late The Simpsons or HIMYM seasons look inspired and original in comparison.

But hey, each to their own.

And removing some of it's comedic moments is making it better? Updating outdated graphics and controls, sure but removing FF quirkiness, turning it into an emo filled FF game? No thanks had enough of those with 1 (ff13), Red XIII in a sailor outfit for me thanks.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this yet, but the way it blends the action gameplay with the new ATB system reminds me of Fallout 3/4 VATS. I dig it a lot.
Obviously won't please the die-hard turn-based people, but it's a good compromise while adding an element of classic Final Fantasy.
