So you can't even bring old Pokemon over to Sword/Shield that aren't in the regional dex. They aren't usable at all. What the fuck is this shit, worst decision GF has ever made. Who the fuck thought this was a good move, it's pure laziness, the models and everything all exist - they're using the same assets as the 3DS games. Pure fucking laziness.

And that's probably true of the other conferences I mentioned.

a quick look at Sony 2015 and 2016 summaries suggest otherwise.

Fair enough, but I still think this Direct was better than those conferences - although it is close, and I think those ones did a tad better job at having surprises which were completely unexpected. I think in a couple ways those E3's haven't aged the best, because a lot of those exclusives either ended up becoming multiplatform pretty quickly, were received as mediocre, came to PC in their launch window, or aren't even out yet. Shenmue 3 for example looks like a pretty mediocre game. Even looking up the list I was surprised at how much of E3 2016's exclusive content was just "VR" games - which isn't really that important to me. No doubt some of the third party exclusive content here will end up being multiplatform too though.

I'm still a big believer in judging things when they happen, so those past E3s I think are still great, and ultimately E3 is a show for presenting games, which is why even though I take into account how many exclusives there - the way games are presented is still important. It's why Microsoft's 2018 E3 was so great, because even if there weren't many exclusives I could at least say that a large portion of the third parties interested me, and the pacing was fairly killer. But I also think a lot of the E3 2015 and E3 2016 stuff was sort of a leap of faith, in the sense that I had to suspend the possibility that I wouldn't like some of the big heavy hitters (again, Shemue, FF7R, etc). I can at least be sure most of the big games I'm hyped for in this conference will at least be pretty good.

Also, kind of disingenuous to put quantity of games over the way they're presented. I realize you're just correcting me but, when you look at what the games that took a lot of time, they were mostly exclusive (aside from a few third parties like Dragon Quest). Nintendo could present 40 minutes of nothing but exclusive content, and then have a 1 minute highlight reel of indie games that technically qualify the statement that there were "more mulitplats", as correct. That wouldn't change the greatness of the exclusive showing really. I also think the short format helps.

Wait until you see the regional dex. X/Y had over 450 Poke'mon in the game (Not counting Megas). There's a lot of Poke'mon that I'm sure nobody will miss like Zigazoon, a lot of UU Poke's, and Legendaries. Then there's all the Pokemon that fill the same role as Poke'mon from previous gens. Like Conkledurr and Machamp.

Also, there's no reason why they can't slowly patch the rest in over a year.

Not sure where to start...

Witcher 3 on the go...
More Dragon Quest hype...
Banjo in Smash...
Astral Chain looks AMAZING (most anticipated game of the year for me)
Daemon X Machina looks sick...
Animal Crossing info...

Man too much goodness to list really, but I have to say that Nintendo has not only out done themselves this E3, but that was perhaps the best E3 showing of all 3 in years. It was well paced, interesting, and was just one great announcement after another. And if that was not enough, they drop a sequel announcement to 2017's GotY to boot, only sealing the victory they already claimed. Fantastic showing at the end of what was a lack luster E3 overall for me. SE was the only other show that I really liked, and even that is a distant second. That is how I feel anyway.

Pretty good direct. At least I liked a lot more than last year.
Game after game, and leak confirmed after leak confirmed. Lol.

All true, even likely perhaps.  Shame they didn't mention or show that in the stream.  Either way, it's still a pain though.  It's a question of nuisance vs major problem.  For those who use transfer game to game.

Nah, anything short of all of them is not good enough. I love Zigzagoon, most of my faves are UU/NU pokes. They haven't added new animations, they haven't changed the models. This decision makes absolutely no sense.

We all know they won't though. Unless there's sufficient outrage to get a day one patch (either release of SS or Pokemon Home) including them all, they won't be added. We won't see those 'mon until either the $60 third version or the next set of games release, and even then it won't be likely.

that Daemon X Machina box art is beautiful and I really hope the game ends up being good but it's still one of the games I feel Nintendo needs to prove more of the most because it's marketing hasn't been the best imo

it's great that they listened to feedback and made changes in the game to fix stuff but i'm still so curious as to how this game is gonna do critically and sales wise

Honestly, I thought it was amazing. A few ramdom thoughts.

DQ Hero in Smash! I've only played a few of these games, and so my knowledge is limited to the heroes in V, VIII, and IX, but I'm glad to see one of them featured. On that note, DQ XI Definitive looks really damn good, looking forward to that one.

New Fire Emblem trailer gives me chills, I was curious if it would go this route at some point and shift into a traditional war focus. Bad news for people who wanted a school sim only, it looks like the school section is meant to contrast with a much heavier story later on. Only negative comment I have is that the english voice acting was pretty underwhelming...hopefully it has dual audio. Next month hype!

Link's Awakening Remake looks absolutely amazing, everything about it just gets me excited. That new dungeon builder seems really cool, looking forward to playing around in it.

Astral Chain and Daemon x Machina look interesting, but will probably wait for impressions. Animal Crossing and Pokemon are sure buys, but not too much to comment on really.

Banjo!!!

Finally, learning one of my favorite games ever is getting a sequel is just icing on the cake. So much to digest here, but seeing a Zelink adventure against a reincarnated evil (Ganondorf or...perhaps Demise is revived in another form?) really made this E3 for me.

I know when I think Contra, I think playing as a cyborg pandas!

Seriously, what was up with that?

i've never played it but isn't Contra coming back a big deal sort of? like hasn't it been not seen for ages? Especially with Konami hardly making console games anymore then this just comes out of nowhere but hardly anyone talking about it, probably because it looks budget as hell but still

they had a different trailer on their youtube that I think made it look like it could be dumb potential fun at least
