I think people are thinking Zen 2 = Ryzen 2xxx only and not Ryzen 3xxx too.

yeah something surpassing a 1080 on a console so soon sounds kind of unbelievable since a pc with less optimisation can handle 4k 60fps, sounds like overkill tbh

I assume the new consoles CPU's will be closer to Ryzen 3000 series than 2000, considering they don't come out till over a year after the 3000 series launches.

That's what the initial rumors were. I would expect it to be on 7mm to reduce cost and maximize performance/cooling. The TDP on the 3700x is absurdly good. I can only imagine how good the custom chip is.

Yields need to be higher for consoles, though, so console parts never achieve the highs (lows?) in terms of power consumption and temperature compared to laptops and PC parts.
Just finished watching and damn thta was a good show. One of the best shows this gen up there with Nintendo E3 2014.

They didn't say 24TF. They said 4x more computational power than xbox one x. The cpu alone will offer 2.5 - 3 times more performance combined with a gpu 2x performance and you have your number.

Up to the developer.
The Playstation 4 and Xbox One are limited by the HDMI port... Which top out at 4k, 30fps... Which is why we never saw it leveraged, even for up-scaling.

It isn't overtly difficult to have 4x the power with less than 4x the Teraflops. GCN is an extremely inefficient architecture.
People need to stop clinging to flops as the be-all, end-all.

I would expect a larger than 4x increase for the CPU, especially with some more modern instructions... Unless Microsoft got conservative with clockrates and held back performance.
12 memory modules would likely mean 24GB of Ram and a 384-bit memory bus, which falls inline with it being a direct Xbox One X replacement.

Should have an edge in highly threaded scenarios, but fall back during lighter threaded scenarios where Intel typically holds an edge anyway... It really depends on the final clockrates though... High TDP's allowances Intel/AMD CPU's on the desktop to turbo up allot.

Ryzen 1000 is Zen, Ryzen 2000 is Zen +, Ryzen 3000 desktop is Zen 2.
Mobile Ryzen 2000 is Zen, Ryzen 3000 is Zen +.
