If you're just not into gaming anymore, then you shouldn't be worried about what happens to your account here. Just don't log in and it'll be lost to the sands of time.

If you're worried about someone in the future linking your account to your person, then that's more problematic...but unless something has changed since I was on the team, there's no easy option to just delete your entire account...only to delete your individual posts.

But hey, 1916 posts isn't too bad. You can delete one post in about 20 seconds, so that works out to be almost 11 hours. Just get a few Red Bulls and get it done in one sitting!

Well, even if he manually erases his posts one by one, his profile is going to be linked, inexorably, to the Flat Earth movement now.

Doesn't EU law give ownership of one's data. Just saying if someone in Europe wanted to delete their account and site refuses or doesn't have ability in place isn't that opening up for a lawsuit. I'm American so haven't looked too much into online privacy laws but I know EU has more strict laws.

well they're not going to do that and apparently they're not going to Grant Perma bans anymore so change your password typing in a bunch of letters then log out

Profile -> Settings -> Delete -> Delete Forever.

I imagine people want to be permabanned because their life sucks or whatever.

However, if they're the type of person that feels they need to be permabanned to remove temptation of visiting, then they have bigger problems. They might just bug the mods later to bring them back or create a new profile.

If people are ashamed of the things they said perhaps, then its time to just make a new online identity.

With that said, I totally understand why the mods have taken the stance of, "fuck off with that temporary or permaban shit." Dealing with peoples weird, illogical requests just becomes a nuisance. As a long time user, I've seen it many times and sometimes just for attention.

This is the internet, I'm sure the mods deal with a bunch of unstable people.

So everyone here that says he should just stop logging don't give a shit about being in control of their personal data. To ask someone to go back and edit all their posts to nothing is overbearing to the user. A simple delete profile isn't asking for much. I'm going to look into EU online rights law more even though I'm not even European because frankly this seems to be in violation.

How would you like it if Facebook or any other shit social media site said nope sorry can't delete your posts, pics or profile?
