The reason why this place is getting deserted is VERY VERY obvious. But I'll leave it at that. As a prediction, its not going to improve.

Is it? Should be easy enough to disclose then.

Keeping this place afloat is NOT my job.

Quite frankly what is established:
-loss of software numbers
-loss of console wars
-social media
-decade old layout
-mods permaban the wrong people
-no support from owner due to lack interest

Honestly with the decline in traffic it is amazing hes keeping it floating

Everything on that list is wrong with the exception of one. And that one you are "right" on isn't 100% but you are close.

I assume you mean it the other way around

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

This site started his decline when 2 or 3 mods 3 or 4 years ago targetted playstation users and the biggest playstation official thread at that time with the funny lie of a reason that it was taking users from commenting on other places and it had spam lol. 1 / 3 of ps users left and after that ps fanbase that was the second larggest never recovered and it was bleeding users left and righ, now its a desert in ps part of forum, then it was discord server that took a very small portion , dont get me wrong, it was very smal, discord server is almost dead too , once or twice a month i open it and its a comment here and there and the usual resetera link to theirs forum threads ... cant blame them , there is barely new threads here... then it was ego problems , drama and these little groups of people teaming up against users or other groups of people. My interest was lost after that, i tried to post more but holy shit this site on mobile is cancer, its hard to post, sometimes the fucking ads cover 90 % of the screen. and lets not mention the owner who does not give three fucks about this xD

Wrong it started when selnor got permad

What were those users banned for, specifically?

I somehow doubt it was simply for supporting Playstation.

I think I've brought this up before, but if we lift the bans that were placed on all the Nazis over the years, it could really help to shore up our numbers.

This was nothing to do with who like what console or bias, it was a move IMHO to target people who they didnt liked that participated in the thread, imagine having fun like people have in nintendo official thread or xbox official thread and sudently 2 mods start to bother the users every day, claiming people is spamming, making warnings every day just to piss people off and then using it was a reason to shut down the thread.

After a while one was kicked out from moderation and we never saw him again

I have a hard time believing that our mod team would go out of their way to harass and ban users who were following the rules, I've never seen that happen in nearly 10 years on VGChartz.

I think if people see interesting threads they want to post in, activity will increase. Maybe making one for each sales analysis / news article posted in the site would be a start.

Better than that, every article should have a thread alongside it in the forums. It seems a lot of users are willing to discuss the news, but the forums is more active than the news section.

I could manually create threads on the bigger news and / or create a monthly thread on the monthly sales articles.

That could be a good start.
