Forums - Gaming Discussion - Platinum Games no longer developing Granblue Fantasy

contract is over...could it mean game is almost finished?

While we, PlatinumGames, have been working with Cygames in co-development of the upcoming console game Granblue Fantasy: Relink, we officially announce our contract on the project has come to an end. Development will still continue, but be handled solely by Cygames’ internal development team.

We would like to express our thanks to everyone who has shown interest in the project, and ask that the same support should continue for Granblue Fantasy: Relink as its production continues forward.

It could be almost finished since the game has been in development for nearly 2 and a half years, the last gameplay footage looked like it was something in near shipping state ...

Hopefully it means that it will release soon

How many projects is Platinum working on at the same time right now? With this done, they should be more or less free to focus on Bayonetta 3 and whatever else they have on their hands.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Sounds like Platinum Games was unable to finish the game in there contracted hours and now the game needs to be finished by another dev team. Hmm i wonder if this was the very thing that pissed MS off with Scalebound.

No, Platinum games was the co developer of the game while Cygames got their new console focused studio together.

Sounds like they've done what they were contracted to do and it's up to cy games to finish it. Hopefully this is a smash hit especially in Japan.
