To be honest if Nintendo is going to split their base with a Pro Version they are better off making a Home Console that can stream to the existing Switch or an enhanced Switch that can perform Cloud Gaming. Unless the SCD rumors hold any water and you could just upgrade the Dock for extra power. I think Nintendo has to be careful saying okay half my base can play these games and the other half can play all these triple A titles, unless there is a massive price differential.

The real question is how nintendo plays it. I personally don't feel they will put the same chip in two different skus and basically tell people hey the reason this ne is the pro is because we put in a bigger battery.

That's not what will make it the Pro model.

X2 has the same performance at half the power draw so they can make a slimmer, lighter version with the same performance as the current model.

It also has double the performance at the same power draw so they can make a moderately more powerful version that replaces the current sku.

It would be like 2DS vs New 3DS XL

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Then ok...I accept the idea that we will have a revision but which won't multiply by 2 or 3 the number of TFLOPS...Eventually a slightly more stable framerate and a few games running at 900p on the new model and 720p on the base model. Nothing more amazing.

Ya a massive performance boost was never going to be something Nintendo cared about, a modest boost like Gameboy Color, DSi or New 3DS is far more likely.

I think the Lite version (which I assume there will be) could just be a slight increase with longer battery life and a better screen. The Pro version which I expect by early 2020 needs to be a significant difference and at least run Xbox One/PS4 quality games with near the same specs. Switch will need to be able to get downgraded versions of triple AAA titles to stay competitive when Next Gen arrives.

The problem is you are comparing Switch to handhelds, and Nintendo markets Switch as a hybrid. It doesn't need next gen graphics, but it needs to stay within a range. So I don't expect a minor handheld upgrade for the Pro Version which should launch latest by early 2020.

OK.

So X2. You can have the same performance if its slightly downclocked and will use a smaller battery too and and a smaller overall console and  this called the lite.

Or you can have about 40% more performance keep the size and form factor the same while keeping the battery size the same that will. Call this the pro.

The real difference between the two outside physical size is the size of the battery. More importantly, that goes out the window the second its in a docked mode.

I think it will be ridiculous to make two skus using the exact same APU but price them differently and one outperforms the other. But thats just me.

That plan will not work, 3rd parties will not port their AAA games to a single sku that has a fraction of the install base of the overall platform. Games will either run on all skus or none.

Idk to me it seems exactly like something Nintendo will do

A very good week for Sony and a decent week for Nintendo considering they just launched Super smash.

I've made 3 predictions regarding Switch I think nobody in this forum has.

1. Switch will sell 14 Million consoles 2018

2. Switch sales will peak it's second year (2018)

3. It will sell less than 3DS

So far it's looking good, first prediction is almost confirmed as this what Michael Pachter recently said (quote) "Switch sales under 20 million: A+, tracking to 13 million this year".

My second prediction we won't know for awhile but with all big games released (Mario, Zelda, Pokemon and Smash) it will very likely peak 2018 as there is no third-party games to keep the Switch afloat.

Third prediction is based on that Switch just won't hit that low price of 99-149$ that 3ds did, if Nintendo insist of having a dock it will probably never go below 249$ pricing.

Source on Michael Pachter quote:

Lol wut

1- the Switch sales, according to VGChartz, is around 13 millions, and there is still 3 weeks to go, and the Switch sold 5 millions last year in december so it will definitly sell at least 4 more millions by the end of the year. So more close to 17 millions than 14.

And Michael Pachter said 8 millions for the whole fiscal year (from april to march). So far, 15 millions by the end of Q3 is almost in the pocket.

That prooves how is off with its predictions.

2- We already seen pretty big 3rd party support so far scheduled for 2019, and it will continue
