Forums - Nintendo - Don't buy BOOM BLOX! EA removes head-tracking feature in BOOM BLOX!

I can't believe some of you are dismissing this game just because AN EASTER EGG THAT IS NOT EVEN REMOTELY PART OF STANDARD GAMEPLAY WAS CUT. That is beyond stupid.

That is LITERALLY like hearing that a new Konami game would have the Konami Code in it, then refusing to buy the game just because the Konami Code turns out not to be in the game. That's how ridiculous you're being.

"I was going to buy this game just because there was one tiny, insignificant, extra hidden feature--but now that they removed said unnecessary feature, I'm going to whine about it and not buy the game."

Talk about fucked-up priorities.

If the head tracking EASTER EGG was the only reason why you would have bought the game, then you probably wouldn't have enjoyed it for more than a couple minutes anyways.

 QFT.

Head tracking is one of those great on paper ideas but in practice, it's not going to add much to the gameplay and make everyone in the room not playing nauseous.

"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks

You are such a meanie.  I am not gonna pick up the game at full price (unless it is priced under $40) now because it was removed.  I stand by my choice.

You guys were obviously way too hyped up about this head-tracking thing. What exactly were you going to do with it?

@Gamerace: That's an interesting idea. It could be great, especially if it turned out to be a good online FPS!

OT: This game went from a must-buy to a 'possibly when it's $20 (or $30 with good reviews).'

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Well, seriously, this is complaining about an Easter Egg that was never really confirmed to be in the game in the first place--they only thought about maybe doing it. Without the head-tracking gimmick the game is being extremely well received early on with reports from IGN stating that they went back to play it several times at Nintendo's Media Summit--and so did just about everyone else.  Mean or not, I stand by my post which essentially stated that it's downright stupid to dismiss this game just because an easter egg--one that the vast majority of people likely wouldn't be able to use anyway--is not implemented into the game.

I'm sure the game will be $50 brand new.  It's EA after all with Steven Spielberg of all people in tow.  They'll charge full price.  I'm not saying they won't give us some serious bang for our buck (again, we have Spielberg here and he likes to spend a hefty buck, but also loves to deliver some serious bang), especially with the reported user-generated content the game has available and likely online mode(s), but it won't be a discount title.  I just can't see that.  IGN referred to it as one of the best 3rd party titles on the Wii.  It'd be stupid to dismiss it because an easter egg few people would even be able to use isn't in the game.  Silly.

well, isn't it your fault to expect EA to be innovative in the first place? ;)

Haha so true and so sad at the same time.

For those hugely disappointed with head tracking not being added into Boom Blox, do you use it on your PC? If not then I question how much you really care about trying it since it's readily available and easier to set up on the net right now. If you were waiting on this release to get into head tracking while having the means to display it on your PC, then you're just being unreasonable. The game itself was not going to be better played with head tracking tacked on, which is exactly what they were going to do, tack it on. Not implement it, tack it on. There are actually games on the PC that implement it. Why not play them since this is such a huge deal to you?

Sad to see it go, but I might still pick this up... Although Head tracking would be very..... interesting....

Guitar Hero 3/ Smash Hits

to clarify my stance: i will purchase the first game to implement head tracking...this game is not it

however, that does not mean i won't get this game anyway for its actual gameplay...considering puzzlers are my fave and i own elebits, i am right in the target group for this game
