Forums - Nintendo - Don't buy BOOM BLOX! EA removes head-tracking feature in BOOM BLOX!

Well, I guess I'm the only one buying for its brilliant utilization of the Wiimote and the sheer amount of fun people are having while playing this gem. I don't know about you, but the head tracking easter egg was just that, a nice little extra.

"Gamers also lined up for the chance to play EA's Boom Blox, a title that is rapidly shaping up to be one of the best third-party offerings of the year."-IGN

"If there was a star of the summit’s showroom, it was without a doubt, Boom Blox."-GoNintendo

"These early impressions leave us looking forward to Boom Blox."-GameSpot

"Spielberg's take on Jenga assuredly feels better, as its surprisingly accurate Wii Remote controls and realistic physics make for enjoyable block-tumbling thrill."-1up

I'll go by what those who have actually played the game have said. Unfortunately, it seems that too many of you have made up your mind about this game a long time ago, and that's just too bad.

Actually it was the opposite way.....
most people won't buy this kind of game......except published by Nintendo or featuring Mario

Most people want to try head tracking and then they will buy it, and try out what kind game it is......that's it, not because of Spielberg or Jenga like creatures....

However, head tracking gone........potential buyer gone too....

Poor PS3 Sales Means Smaller Losses

"Actually, because the number of units sold was not as high as we hoped, the loss was better than our original expectation," Quotes from Sony’s CFO Nobuyuki Oneda.

Let's keep in mind that Go Nintendo played this game at the Nintendo Summit and said it is looks like it may be the best 3rd party game on the Wii.

GoNintendo Impressions - Wii ‘Game of Summit’ - Boom Blox
If there was a star of the summit’s showroom, it was without a doubt, Boom Blox. Absolutely everyone at the show spent a good amount of time with the game. If there were media members that weren’t interested in the game before the summit, they have most-definitely changed their tune by now. There were plenty of great games to check out at the summit, but Boom Blox was the one that was making the media, Nintendo employees, and third-party reps squeal with joy. I really mean that too. Both days of the summit, you could hear laughs, screams, and groans coming from the back half of the room. That was where the one demo kiosk for Boom Blox was. That same area also happened to have massive amounts of people standing around, waiting for their chance to get in on the action.

At this point, there is no doubt I'm gonna buy the game if I find a good deal on it.

I was not gonna buy a jenga rip-off no matter what big name director they got to whore it out.

A jenga rip off? Sure in the sense that Guitar Hero ripped off DDR. I mean it has notes that go across the screen and you hit it so it's the same game right?

Also delete the bolded part as it was completely unneccessary. Would you rather a big name atheist/christian director?

This game sounds awesome, who cares if it has head tracking?

Why would I not buy a game for something that's an Easter Egg and has no affect on the game in any way being removed?

The removal of head tracking won't affect my purchase decision for this game nor the decision of 95% of buyers (90% which didn't even know about it).

Maybe and maybe I'm just being Pollyanna here but maybe EA has another game in the works built around head tracking and didn't want Boom Blox stealing some of it's thunder with a lousy easter egg.

So you guys were going to buy a game because of a tiny Easter Egg that lets you look around a level?

I wasted more money for less.
