Forums - Gaming - The SNES version of doom is awesome

I have completed Doom on the GBA and PC many times before, but I have just recently began playing through the SNES version and I am hooked. For me it plays exactly how I expect it to for a console, I am addicted to this game all over again. Has anybody played this version? What do you think is the best version of the original?

PC version rules all... Lan parties WTF... I remember we used to listen to heavy metal while playing this... so much fun...

Yeah it was quite good but couldn't match the PC version. Consoles are getting much closer to PC's now. Compared to Snes days consoles were a long way behind, graphically but not gameplay wise.

Im not too sure I agree. I remember playing the snes version and finding it worse than my 32X version...and we all know anything 32X is garbage...

Compared to Jaguar, 3D0, PS1 and ultimately the PC versions...the snes version can't really compare.

That version was my first taste of Doom, and might even have been my first taste of FPS, except for sections of the SNES version of Jurassic Park.

I'm just annoyed about the lack of progress saving. Didn't they have room for battery backup? I'm serious. Did the Super FX2 chip not leave any room for that?

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

The PC version is the best, but the SNES is a nice port...
