A mic drop isn't going to ruin a man and his family's lives over baseless accusations.  That's what the Dems are trying to do.  But, hey, if hating me makes you feel better, go right ahead.

I'll respond to this just in case you really can't see what you're doing.  You said you want the process to drag out and end in the most polarizing possible way.  Even if everything you said about the Democrats was true, they'd still at least be working towards a goal (stopping Kavanaugh).  What's your goal?  Adding more drama to the situation.  You want to taste the bitter tears of those who honestly think Kavanaugh is a terrible candidate.  Pure schadenfreude.  If you can't see this is a toxic attitude, I don't know what you would think is one.

And the fact that you don't distinguish between "I hate what you are doing" and "I hate you personally" underlines what is wrong with you.

And how is destroying a man’s life, career and reputation just because he is a Trump appointee or that you don’t like his politics (or whatever reason) any less toxic? Because that is what the democrat policiticans are doing (and that is what the other half of the argument is supporting).

You also have to able to look at it from both perspectives and know that there are people here that do not believe Ford and consider Kav innocent (or at least do not accept the evidence brought forward to be convincing).

And I I’ve literally seen TV shows (SNL for one) literally laughing at Kavanaugh’s plight (not even considering the possibility of him being innocent). That’s pretty much pure schadenfreude as well, isn’t it?

The fact that the FBI "investigation" was a total sham is pretty good circumstantial evidence in favor of Ford's testimony. Also, basically all of his friends from his time at Yale have come out against his nomination, which is also telling, as well has over a thousand law professors and the freaking Bar Association. A former conservative justice has also come out against his confirmation.

Just Kavanaugh's behavior during his hearings should prevent him from ever being on the bench again. He's acted like a spoiled child. Is that really the kind of person you want on the Supreme Court?

Can't wait for this goddamn circus to be over, one way or another.

While I tend to lean towards being skeptical towards Ford, I really just wish the Repubs would have just nominated someone else with a seemingly clean record. At least then if random sexual assault allegations popped up AGAIN out of nowhere, it would look far more fishy than it does now.. Or, if Trump were smart, he'd just nominate a woman next, and one far more conservative than Kavanaugh, who's supposedly fairly moderate, just to troll the dems.

Though I guess the Dems think they're going to win the midterms so that's precisely the point of attempting to block this nomination, because then they'd be able to hold the seat empty until their "inevitable" win in 2020 and they can throw another liberal on there. The irony is the backlash I think will only sway more people from the dems to the repubs for the mids. It's certainly repelled me even further from them.

That’s a bit of a non sequitour there. And how was the investigation “a sham” (quite a subjective term don’t you think?)? And how does that have to do with anything I said?

I disagree. Judges are human, like you and me. We aren’t robots, we can get emotional. If we are professional, then that would have little/no bearing how we do our jobs. If you want to use a metric for determining how a person does their job, then we go look at their job history.

And let us not be disengenous here. Do you really think there was any way he would have responded that would not have gotten spun by the media and made a reason for him “to never be on the bench again”? You and I both know the answer to that.

To the Dems, there won't be a judge that is clean enough. Or shows the right demeanor. They let Gorsuch slide because he was a Conservative judge replacing another Conservative judge. Kennedy's replacement tips the scale in the Reps favor, at least in their mind, even though he is more moderate. If they actually lose the mid-terms, and RBG steps down, or (God forbid) has health issues, her replacement will face even more garbage, no matter how squeaky clean they actually are. It'll make this circus look like a walk in the park.

And you are right. This may cost them the mid-terms. It's energized the base and frightened some moderates with the "guilty until proven innocent" stance the Dems are taking. Polls are slowly sliding towards the Reps.

Lol, I want the process to drag out?  Sorry, but that's the Dems.  If I had my way, we would have already had a confirmation vote on him weeks ago.  Instead, the Dems pulled an 11th hour hail Mary.  All based on accusations without a shred of evidence or corroboration.  Something, that even if they were going to bring up, could have also been done months ago, so it could have been investigated privately.  Something Ford supposedly wanted.  Of course, that's not what Dems wanted.  Nope, delay, delay, delay, with a bunch of public upheaval to gin up their base.  So, you can point that righteous finger right at the Dems if you want to blame someone for adding unnecessary drama and having a toxic attitude.

Lots of boofin in the comments section as of late. Personally I rather they pick a clean judge, but if course they want to rush this before the midterms because they know there is a good chance that they're going to be voted out.

That’s the thing though. There’s never going to be a clean enough judge. And even if he was clean, they could just fabricate accusations cuz apparently, accusations are enough to disqualify a candidate for many ppl. At the very least, if Kav was disqualified, that would be the precedence they would be establishing.

How do you come up with that? The Democrats just wanted the FBI Investigation to have included claims of sexual assault AND Judge Kavanaugh’s youthful drinking and truthfulness under oath.
