| Kyros said: Even some people today don't agree that Hitler was evil. It's all your own perception on what happened, happens, what you think is best etc. No it is not. That's a good example because Hitler WAS EVIL. If people thought otherwise they were uninformed and/or idiot. There are topics where different people may have opinions and nobody is wrong. And then there are topics where someone is simply wrong and an opinion is false. Creationist have the opinion that the earth is 4000 years old and dinosaurs were killed by the flood and it would be stupid to just "respect their opinion" because it is idiotic and can be easily proven false. |
First off, you kind of took the last quote you quoted from me in the wrong way. It was only for the paragraph that I put it into, separate from the previous paragraph.
Secondly, can you prove the bolded part because there isn't a scientist whom has yet. There are theories and speculations, but there is no real universal proof to prove or disprove it otherwise. And please keep in mind that calling people's beliefs idiotic is a huge mistake in a debate, not because you called the belief idiotic but because you're completely blowing off part of the debate while referring to it. I know that was just an example, but the mere fact that you called it idiotic and that it would be stupid to even respect their opinion implies you wouldn't care much to disprove it and people can use that against you. A rule in a debate; respect everyone's opinion. If you say "your belief is idiotic, why should I respect it?" to an opponent the debate will go south and then turn into a flame fest. Then nothing will get done. Sort of like Congress these days. :o

The ironic thing is that Freedom of Speech isn't true at all. You can't speak about whatever you want without restrictions in public. You'll be thrown in jail for some things while saying other things can get a person shot and killed.
Of course, it's a good thing everybody can't say what they want to say without restrictions because the death rate, fight rate, crime rate, and heart rate of this country would asplode.

Actually, the freedom of speech is perfectly true.
You have the right to say whatever you want to, provided it does not infringe someone else's natural rights, such as life, liberty or their own freedom of speech.
however, just because you have the right to speak does not grant you amnesty from being punished for the things your speech brings into the open. If you speak that you killed or plan to kill someone, or that you did something or intend to do something otherwise illegal, you can be punished for that. However the speech itself has no punishment attached to it.
There are plenty of people that speak out against Bush, yet I've seen no government action taken against them. If the Bush administration really was as bad the the claims would have you believe, the claims wouldn't even be reaching your ears at all.
And as for the issue about Hitler, Kyros pretty much summed it up: Yes, he was viewed as a savior to the German people for bringing them out of a depression, but no matter what his intentions or accomplishments, it doesn't change the fact that his methods were ultimately evil in nature. That matter is not just simply a matter of opinion that is purely dependent on who you ask.

That's true in most cases but there are simply believes that are well idiotic, so you should be able to say that. For example if Tom Cruise believes that the earth is filled with souls of people who have been dumped in volcanoes by space ships looking like DC10s on behalf of the evil galactic ruler Xenu. (Yes scientologists really believe this and Ron hubbert sucks as a science fiction writer) I feel empowered to say this belief is idiotic and I won't respect it thank you.

Hmmmm. Must've missed that one. Doesn't ring a bell......... *whistles nervously* |
We know what you´ve done man... if that motel owner would have killed you and both women had showed up to the funeral... lets just say it would have been one awkward funeral... :)
OT: You guys are all wrong... I would enlighten you as to why... but frankly I don´t think you guys would understand... :)

| Kyros said: Secondly, can you prove the bolded part because there isn't a scientist whom has yet. I think your statement that no scientist "has yet" is simply wrong. Many scientist did prove it in so many different ways that you cannot keep count. The only way that the statement could be true was if a truly omnipotent god did his best to create a perfect illusion of our earth being 6 billion years old. Otherwise you just have to look at radiology (isotopes with known decay times that act as a "clock"), DNA (changes in DNA that accumulate over generation that point to millions of generations of for example crocodiles), Palaeontology (interestingly in the "4000" years there have been dozens of distinct environments for example in Montana that lie above each other), biology (the famous evolution), cosmology (planets are without doubt billions of years old we see far away planets as they were billions of years ago), geology (plate tectonic for example). And all of these completely different areas of science point to ONE thing, the earth is billions of years old and animals have lived on it for (a couple less) billions of years. Some creationists putting their fingers in their ear and saying its not true doesn't count as a rebuttal. ![]()

First off science has "evedence." Second the thing he didn't say was beyond a resonable doubt. Third you can not even prove that I actually exist or anyone else does.
Now maybe you can say things like its extremly unlikley or we will just assume or all the evidence point to.
Don't get me wrong I "believe" the earth is 4 billion years old based on the evedince I have seen.
But what you are doing is simply rounding the probablity down to zero and calling it Idiotic.
![]() | "Back off, man. I'm a scientist." Your theories are the worst kind of popular tripe, your methods are sloppy, and your conclusions are highly questionable! You are a poor scientist. Especially if you think the moon landing was faked. | |

as I said if you want to get phylosophical you can say that nothing can be proven and do I even exist and the whole esoterik approach. But if you accept the basic environment it has been proven. The nice thing is its hard or impossible for science to prove something is true but it is easy to prove something is bullshit. Thats what science does all day.
