These are the current world sales and market share %. Each week that follows on the chart includes the previous four weeks sales averages for the entire world. So basically this sheet is trying to predict what sales will trend like based on the previous four weeks of sales. So IF sales average exactly like the previous four weeks then this sheet will show what the exact sales and market share will be.

Things like holidays; price cuts, and newly released AAA games that move a lot of systems will change this chart quickly. So will supply issues like what is happening with the Wii.

At the current rate of sales the sheet says the Wii will catch the 360 by August 26^th now two weeks sooner than it was from the 5-06-07 sales data, which showed the catch date of September 9^th. 

Only 584,505 more Wii sales in addition to this trend and the Wii will catch 360 by July 29^th. This gap between these two is being closed two different ways. They are Wii sales have been increasing and 360’s have been decreasing.

Not as many people are currently thinking this July WW prediction is as crazy as it used to be.

I'm surprised ps3 has that small of a share %. I am guessing if anything Nintendo is doing everything in its power to ramp up production of the Wii, to ride this hype they are on as long as they can.

Have you tried doing the same prediction using the last 4 weeks growth or slowdown of sales, and applying the same growth/slowdown to the future? It doesn't make much sense to assume that sales will remain constant.

Of course it doesn't make sense that growth/slowdown will remain constant either, but it's probably a closer estimate...

What is scary about the PS3 share % IS THAT IT IS DROPING FROM 15.95%!!!!! This means its sales at a lower %than that currently WW.

This sheet does it that way. It doesnt show the exact same sales for each passing week, they are each different. If the sales for the last 4 weeks were all in an uptrend, this sheet would predict in a constantly increasing uptrend. But real world sales fluctuate up and down week to week. Thats why I average it this way so it is not in a constant up or down trend.

well, ps3 will get this summer some really good games, like NGS and LAir + in japan EG5 and folklore. so it may go higher, then 600k in 3 month. but, it`s summer, and most people in summer play less games. 200k for japan(40k), usa (100k), europe-other(60k ???) it`s not that much, if to mention those amazing exclusive games. and in july there will be finally E3. People will see Killzone2, and if they will be amazed by graphics then that also could boost sales. :) Time will show.

Nintendo is selling 262,317 systems a week on average now.

Multiply that by 4 1/3 (average weeks in a month) and you get 1,136,707 units sold a month. Hopefully they are holding a lot of systems back. If not their production really sucks.
