Forums - Nintendo - Smash Ultimate Direct August 8th 2018 announced at Evo

Yeah, I hope Smash Tour doesn't come back. It was annoying having to play all 3 maps to unlock Pac-mans stage (which honestly isn't even worth it), I'll be really pissed if I have to something like that again. After Smash 4 I have very little faith in Sakurai's ability to come up with interesting and fun side modes, but I guess we'll see...

I think all modes that ever existed are going back. Because is ultimate and everyone is here. Everything may be here too.

What I'd really like to see come back are the custom Break the Targets stages for each character that Melee had.

Signature goes here!

That would be awesome.

Melee's Adventure Mode + Brawl's Subspace Emissary?

Gimme!

Honestly some of you are WAY to soft on Nintendo. They need to step up their game.

E3 was a smash direct that dragged longer than Days of Our Lives. I couldn't care less on what little is left to reveal.

All this show is Nintendo are fucked and have nothing else in the pipeline for 2018 worth my money. They are committing the same mistakes they did with Wii and WiiU. Strong start then not enough fuel to keep the engine running long term.

I won't be surprised if they announce an October Direct and it is a smash one too lol.

Committing the same mistakes as the Wii? What on earth are you talking about?
You do realize it is virtually tied as the second highest selling home consoles in history, right?
Also, if you think the Wii U started out strong, it's strongest sales are still lower than the Wii's 7th year on the market.

I'm referring to game support before it dried up. Not sales.

You know guys, there’s nothing wrong with not liking Smash, but if that’s the case you could just... idk...

Not watch it?

It is not about liking or hating smash. it is about the fact there is nothing else to know about. You need to keep people keen when a new product is out. When you see PS4 getting new releases every week and Nintendo not even hinting at any, no matter what the advantages the Switch may have over the PS4 to a person that quickly becomes irrelevant and sales slow down and people go elsewhere.

Uh, plenty things you wrote dont make sense, first I can bet we will have regular Direct next month,  second Nintendo stop supporting Wii after 4-5 years after launch, and third Wii U didnt had strong start.

Games not sales. WiiU had better 3rd party support (from main publishers), We had COD we had NFS and so on.  Then it died in the arse.  It is a little concerning that there is no other announcements about 3rd party support and we are back to Nintendo making their 1 game a year dry spell.

NS has more notable third party support in its first year then Wii U had in 4 and that includes major publishers.

I mean, this is a thread about the smash direct. I don't know why people would want to derail it to how nintendo is failing to bring new software or how bad their e3 was or whatever. If this was a thread about if nintendo's presentations and software offerings are/will hurting their sales, then it would be a different story(which on a personal note is also a consequence of how limited this forum perception of reality is,since their q1 results were just fine, and they reported e3 increased the sales momentum, but i digress).

Also the only thing they showed in the e3 direct was the characters coming back plus some stages and new techniques. We know nothing about possible new game modes, single player campain and dozens of other shenanigans.  To say that "there's nothing else to know about it" it's just plain false and naive.
