Another post on here about the DS not yet hitting it's peak, got me thinking.....
What's to stop both the DS and PSP continuing for a long time?
Both have good sized user bases now...although obviously the DS has double the PSP's number. Between them, they have near 65m. Whereas the 360, Wii and PS3 combined have less than the PSP alone.
Both Nintendo and Sony could sit tight and let them grow for years to come. They will be making money for both. They sales are still very strong; excessively so for the DS. And they are now both at a very affordable level.
The library of games for both now is very extensive. The games are relatively cheap to make in comparison to the next gen and can be produced quicker as well.
The PSP had a good year last year, but in all honesty, I can see it selling more this year especially if the rumoured redesign is to be released later on this year.
The DS is just getting stronger all the time; and the sales seem to get better all the time.
Also, on a final note. They haven't yet been out for 3 years, yet have sold 65m worldwide. High costs of next generation units along with Nintendo's ability not to quite meet demand, could push up sales even more so.
I reckon we have yet to see the peaks of both these handhelds and I wouldn't at all be surprised, if they are still selling well in 3, 4 or even 5 years time.
Prediction (June 12th 2017)
Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.
PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)
PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)
