Not only that, you can get Halo 3 added for only £10. That means the 360 Arcade with Halo3 is cheaper than the Wii with Wii Sports.
These prices just seem to be crazy low. I can't believe the 360 isn't selling better at these prices.
I think this is a recent price drop and it takes a while for people to clue in. By the time GTA4 drops and people go and buy next gen systems in massive quantities just for that game they will face a tough choice.
149 for the arcade or 289 for the 40 gig ps3....hmm tough choice indeed.

This is only a good thing. It also means MS are able to make them fairly cheaply. Soon you will see the sales rise significantly. They need to advertise on TV. Regularly. And at prime time.

This is an Amazon promotion... They also have a GTA4 promotion to go with that. If you put in XBOXGTA4 as a promotional code, a further £10 is subtracted (from the discounted game price which is below RRP already).
I myself got a Premium 360, Halo 3, GTA4 and a wireless adapter for Windows (to use the 360 controller on the PC) for £265 including delivery, which is less than what a PS3 costs even with promotions.

Nevertheless, it was still shocking to see a 360 + Halo 3 cheaper than a Wii. It certainly shoots a hole in the theory that people buy the Wii simply because of price.
Smart move by Microsoft reducing the price of their console in Europe much better then wasting money in Japan. But its little sad that it is not selling better in Europe they need more commercials to show the price because they have big price advantage against PS3. They need to make it more actractive in Europe and I dont know how. My decision to not buy 360 isn'tt based on price or games.

In due time all the current anti-Wii theories will fall, and brand new, more ridiculous ones will take their place. There are still people saying 3rd party software doesn't sell despite all the evidence, but I think that one will pretty much disappear this year too.

This was their price on the systems on the day after the price cuts became official. I'm surprised you haven't been to Amazon UK since then.
