Forums - Sony Discussion - Media Molecule’s Dreams makes me wonder if there’s anything it won’t let you create - Polygon

I'm starting to dig it. But I wonder if this wil end up on PS5, since we don't even have a release date yet.

Yup, I wouldn't be surprised either if it ends up on PS5.

It's crazy when you think about how this game was shown when the PS4 was first revealed in 2013 and it's still not even out yet. Either way i'm hyped for it though.

The question was "let you create", when Sony and police will prevent you from doing it and all, it won't let you create it (or at least will take it down)

I know, I was just stating that the toolset will be fully capable of doing anything. When it comes to publishing and promoting it, that is where it will limit what it Lets You Do. I would imagine any direct rip-offs of copyright or trademark IP will be stopped right away as well. If someone remakes Halo or Mario 64, I am pretty sure Nintendo and Microsoft will demand it gets taken down.

The toolset itself should Let You Do anything.

Seems like you can make cutscenes with the Dreams... but I think it will be very hard to make porn, but people are creative.

There have been a lot of recreations of non-PS content on LBP, so for sure there will be in Dreams, but since it won't be charged I think it would most likely be fair use and MS or Nintendo won't be able to do much against it.

Dreams was first announced at E3 in 2015. The thing in 2013 was a PS4 tech demo. Similar to Quantic Dream’s Kara tech demo before Detroit.

Also, we’ll get a beta this year. I know they’ve said beta dates before, but the devs have said on Twitter that they’ve been very wrong about the amount of time required to create the game, and that they’re extremely confident now that the beta will be this year, with full game-release shortly after that.

The long wait was due to the game engine being remade 3 times before they were happy with it. Add to that that there was only a single person making the engine (now they’ve hired more, Mm has actually hired a shocking amount of people lately) I understand the delays.

I'm still waiting for QD to make a game out of the tech demo on PS4 reveal with that dark wizard.

Ah yes. That was a wierd one. If I remember correctly it was really dramatic then suddenly it was revealed that they were actors shooting a movie?
