The Final Fantasy VII stuff was tremendously successful.  Blew me away as a kid and had me salivating for a PS1.  People who had never heard of Final Fantasy or even knew anything about the genre were anticipating this game.  They made it feel like an important event in videogame history.

My favorite will likely always remain the ad for the original Smash in N64

Doesn't matter whether it's real or fake, a good ad is a good ad.

Well, I think it matters a little. Anybody can cobble together whatever they want to look like an ad, but it's not technically an ad unless it was used in actual marketing. If we were operating under International BVRA competition rules and guidelines, your entry would have you disqualified.
