Thought I'd share with you all a popular flash cartoon series, as the newest episide pretty much sums up my feelings about Gamestop... awhile back when Zack & Wiki first came out i couldn't find it in any other store except Gamestop, and just like in the cartoon, the clerk tried selling me an opened box, price sticker and all on the cover, at full price because it was the only one they had.  That shit just pissed me off and I made him clear the transaction before I ponied up my hard earned cash lol.

Plus I think their used prices are a little jacked up, but then again it's always been like that since the days of Funcoland.  How bout you guys, do you feel the same way?

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

I feel like there are way too many stories about the heroic customer who owned the evil Gamestop employee for trying to rip him off by selling him an open copy/used title/etc.

Lol I just wanted to share that cartoon with everyone as I found it quite funny and true, i just used my experience as an example... i was just so pissed i couldn't find a new UNOPENED copy of Z-Dub on it's release date, had to wait a couple more days then i found one at Best Buy, plus theirs came with a holographic puzzle as a collector's bonus so that was a nice consolation for having to wait an extra couple of days

Gamestop sucks balls, but it wouldn't keep me from actually working there. They jack up the prices on used games and new accessories and have a shitty trade-in value system, which is why they make so much money through used sales. Also, I hate their return policy, how it's 7-days flat-rate on all things, including consoles. Games I understand, but CONSOLES? There used to be a store in my town called Rhino Games (which Gamestop bought that company out and switched the sign), and they had the best trade-in values as well as return policy: Return within 7 days as long as the game is in the same condition as purchased and can receive a refund, no questions asked. But the best part of their policy was LIFETIME GUARANTEE ON ALL GAMES AND CONSOLES (through Rhino). I too went through a similar situation where I bought the last copy of God of War 2, "new" but was opened and in some shitty paper sleeve, the case being used as a display model and looking like Edward James Olmos' face. I took it back next day.

you arent kidding about the trade-in-value, I brought in an anime DVD. traded in for $1.50 WTF. I know its 4 years old and Blockbuster wont buy DVDs anymore and they are the only place that does still. I garranty that I will go in there Wendesday and see it on their DVD rack for $10.

BTW the anime was DBZ: Movie 10: Broly's Second Coming.

I have it on Blu-ray now.

I have never bought a game from a game stop.

@ssj12 The thought of trading in my movies to Gamestop crossed my mind once. Once, but seeing as I've gotten offers lower than $0.50 on games, I'd imagine that movies get shafted big time. There's always eBay, but I'll just have to wait until I've a job and a bank account that can support a PayPal account.

your forgetting that a Buisness has to pay things like taxes, its location, its employees, and its stock. each of these eat up a considerable part of its profits. If you don't like the fact that it is not wrapped in plastic you don't have to shop there to get your games.

Systems I own (Games)

Sega: Dreamcast (40) , Saturn (25), Genesis (50), Masters System (10), Game Gear (20)

Sony: PS1 (8), PS2 (60) , PS3 (5), PSP (12)

Atari: 2600 (18) , 7800 (10), Lynx (10)

I only have ONE issue with gamestop. Super Smash Bros Melee.

Gamestop... USED copy:
shelf price = $35

Best Buy... 2 minute walk down to the end of the mall complex. NEW unopened copy:
shelf price = $30

wtf?

Seppukuties is like LBP Lite, on crack. Play it already!

Currently wrapped up in: Half Life, Portal, and User Created Source Mods
Games I want: (Wii)Mario Kart, Okami, Bully, Conduit,  No More Heroes 2 (GC) Eternal Darkness, Killer7, (PS2) Ico, God of War1&2, Legacy of Kain: SR2&Defiance

My Prediction: Wii will be achieve 48% market share by the end of 2008, and will achieve 50% by the end of june of 09. Prediction Failed.

Luck you... actually the one thing I REALLY hate about Gamestop is whenever I did buy something from there, the salesperson always has to go through a 5 minute shpiel trying to get me to pre-order whatever game it is they're currently pushing, asking for an extended warranty if what im purchasing is hardware or accessories related, and *gasp* telling me that it's only $10 more if i buy the STRATEGY GUIDE with the game!  WTF?!?  And i hate it when i see an unsuspecting parent get suckered in with shit like that.  Oh well, their loss.
