After the big titles hit that the OP mentioned, the games will keep coming. Now that the format war is over and developers are figuring out the architecture, Sony has only one way to go: up. Eventually the price will go down, drawing more consumers, both casual and hardcore. Improved SDKs will encourage developers to tackle the complex architecture and Sony has been known to be helpful towards developers. Sony has introduced franchises that can continue to grow, be it DLC (R&C: Pirate's Booty) or full on games like Uncharted 2 (rumored but that doesn't take a rocket scientist). The online functionality is improving as well as media capabilities and Home has promise for both community as well as user-generated content. I'm not coming from a fanboyish perspective, just a rational one. Sony fucked up big time with the first year of the console and paid for it, but now that some of the biggest hurdles are out of the way, they can focus on making it easier for companies to make games and for us to get them.

All you touch and all you see is all your life will ever be.

after those big games, God of War 3, FF vs 13, Jak and Daxter probably, and tons of third party games whether they are multiplatform or exclusive.

the ps3 gets cancelled...

what the hell kind of a question is this? what happened to the PS2 after all its top selling exclusives came out? what happened to the 360 after halo 3 came out? what happened to the wii after smg came out?

Has anyone mentioned that there's such a thing as a new IP?

hey what's up?   Anyway to awnser your question, these big AAA titles by themselves add a surprising negligable amount to the console's brand b/c the business isn't just having big games, but it is also about making the right choices as far as strategy and what features to include, pricing, online content, etc b/c anybody can spend some mad money to make a great game, but the console maker has to do all of the right things so the titles deserving of a AAA kind of status actually sell well.

What kind of question is that? The next generation starts of course!

God of Puzzle 3. That's the answer.

Hopefully some Atlus and Namco support.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.
