I heard Shawn Layden really liked Microtransactions and shut down Guerrila Cambridge and Evolution Studios. As for Jim Ryan he closed Japan Studios? IDK what Jack Tretton did? did he closes Sony liverpool?

Where did that came from? Those studios could easily implement the same methods on their games as it wasn't completely different type than the ones developed by studios that have some form of MTX.

The organization of Sony Interactive Entertainment is kind of complicated, and has changed in just the past decade.

There's SIE/SCE, there was SCE America, SCE Europe, SIE World Wide Studios/PlayStation Studios.

Jack Tretton was head of SCE America, he did not overlook Sony Liverpool, and I don't think he actually overlooked any studios including the American branch.

I don't think they operate the separate branches like they used to. I think they still exist on paper, but they're taking more of a global approach to leading the company.

I'm not sure if closing Japan Studio would have been on Jim Ryan or if it was on Hermen Hulst, or probably both to some capacity.

Probably both and their reasoning was the slow output of the studio, which makes more sense than lack of MTX. They kept team asobi which don't have MTX from my memory.

I still need to play the first game for each of those series lol - got Horizon 1 for both PS4 and PC and GOW on PS4 (planning to double dip on God of War on PC too).

Demon's Souls and Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart I hope I can get them on sale when I get my future PS5.

Ironically enough, I'm on the fence about Demon's Souls remake lol, at least when it comes to prioritizing it during a sale.

Elden Ring is out now....I hate to say it but with Elden Ring being out there's little to no reason to get Demon's Souls Remake. And this is coming from someone who LOVED that game and places it on their top 25 games of all time.

Not for that price. Not when a game 10 dollars cheaper is like 20x the game. I mean, I love Demon's Souls and it's a great relic, but 20 bucks is about all I could justify spending on it in today's world post Elden Ring. Hell, I agree with PS5 games being 70 and even I thought that was too high for Demon's Souls. Still loved it, but...yeah, it's not needed.

My Console Library:

PS5, Switch, XSX

PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360

3DS, DS, GBA, Vita, PSP, Android

Hopefully this means we'll get a new trailer and release date soon!

If I had a PS5 at launch, Demon's Souls would've been the perfect launch title for me, retreading a game I already beat with QoL improvements and a showcase for the new hardware.

Now there's just too much to catch up on to prioritize another playthrough.

Even more when you played the original. Yep great game but can be patient and pay 20 bucks for it.

New technical details for Forspoken...

Load times barely a second long, multiple graphics modes and FSR 2.0. https://novicegamerguides.com/news/forspoken-load-times-are-barely-a-second-long-on-ps5-has-multiple-graphics-modes/

While I'm on the fence about the game, looks like they're putting some good tech in there.

Is this a good selection? I genuinely don't know.

Also, how does it compare, numbers-wise to GamePass? I can't seem to get any sort of consistency with answers on that. I search "How many games are on GamePass" and I get answers ranging from "over 100" to 460. I went to the Gamepass Library and it looks like 460 is the answer but if that's the case then why only market it as that instead of 'over 450 games'? I just don't get it. Likewise, anyone know what the current PSNow library is at? When I looked a while back I saw it as 700 but that seems absurdly high so I doubt that's the case.

My Console Library:

PS5, Switch, XSX

PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360

3DS, DS, GBA, Vita, PSP, Android

Initial games listed under the classic library are decent at best, which I'm hoping the list gets larger prior to launch buuuuuuuut, this little tidbit does give me some excitement for when future classic games that I really wanna play again get added. Hopefully get added.

Seems like a solid list. And Ubisoft+ is a nice addition.

Out of those games looking forward to playing Ghosts of Tsushima DC, Returnal, Demon Souls, GoTG and Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Also Castlevania LOS 2 (PS3) and some PS1 games.

Not a bad start tbh. The only real underwhelming thing is the number of timed trials.. or lack-thereof lol.
