He is sure it will be delayed to 2023 because it is obvious to anyone with eyes.

Nope, it will be 2022. Probably September.

He's also wrong about this. The Santa Monica Studio's twitter has it in their bio:

The official account of Santa Monica Studio, developer of God of War Ragnarök coming to PS5/PS4 in 2022.

Several people at Santa Monica have been tweeting about it:

She reiterated it again:

Cory Barlog in January of 2018, made similar comments as the video they put out two weeks ago. He used the exact same "tightening the graphics on level 3" comment. And then about 3 weeks later, they announced the release date for the game. And then the game came out 3 months later.

Development has been winding down on God of War Ragnarok. I've seen like half a dozen animators leave SMS, because their work is done.

Jason Schreier said he hasn't heard anything about a delay.

There is an insider who has been suggesting that they will the show the game probably in July, and that the game will definitely release this year.

Just because we haven't heard anything, doesn't mean anything. Probably due to Covid delays, Sony has been more careful about announcing release dates, and they usually have been waiting until they're sure. They didn't even announce Demon's Souls release date, until 2 months before it came out.

Yep.

It isn't cool that we haven't seem demo and all, but I'm not worried at all.

David just posted an assumption matched with an authority argument of "I know Sony and the industry so I'm right".

If there truly is a big acquisition in the works for Sony, they could announce it early next week alongside their financial report, which is similar to how Bungie was announced. It would tie in with the PS+/ PS Now revamp as well as the start of their next financial year.

I finished The Ascent and loved it but sadly my PS5 will be dry of games for months. This generation is mostly depressing so far. Soul Hackers 2 needs to release sooner in the west. I'm curious about Evil West.

This right here always makes me laugh so hard. Like clockwork, every time a new generation comes out it's the same nonsense over and over again about how the new consoles are barren, there are no games, and that there aren't any exclusives becuase most/all games are still on the previous generation.

been a part of this circus since the mid-90s when PS and N64 came out and it's always the same cycle.

It's hilarious because it's like so many people just don't understand how time works. Or how business works. Or how technology works. All new consoles are a long-term investment, not instant gratification. All consoles usually get a bit of a burst of a handful of games at launch, a slow trickle over the first few years where most games are multi-generational because not everyone can afford/acquire a new console, and then build up steam between years 3-5 when that console fully takes over its predecessor.

Yet every time, regardless of actual numbers or trends, you still get folks coming out the woodwork complaining about 'no games' and how it's not worth it. Like they have no idea what's coming or how cycles work or how time works.

This shit makes me laugh so hard because it's so predictable, so devoid of any actual logic, and yet any counter to it will inevitably be met with some variation of 'yeah but this time it's different becuase of recency bias!' This isn't special, it isn't different, and by my observation I actually think this generation (PS5/Switch) has had the most front-loaded first 1-2 years of any consoles, ever. More variety, more quantity, and more quality than any other consoles/generations. Even more than my precious PS2 or SNES. And yet, despite the numbers just being better than prior generations, we still get the same 'there are no PS5 games' arguments.

I don't even like most mainstream titles and I can't keep up with the flow of games coming out. I work from home as a writer and am never far from my console, I have all day to write and play games and I can't keep up with all the games that come out that I want to play. Despite having virtually limitless time to game, my backlog is building up faster than my completed pile.

Y'all need some perspective if you ever plan on actually enjoying this entertainment medium.

Or you can just be cynical and pessimistic. I guess it's really none of my business. I just find it so exhausting to see the same patterns emerge when a lifetime of experience should have granted the perspective needed to appreciate what you have, more.

tl:dr

blah blah blah. Talking 9th gen only games my overreactionary dude.

There is a pandemic that is still very much a thing. Chip shortages are real. Still can't walk in a store and easily pick up new consoles. Adaption to this gen is slower and thus less 9th gen only games have been made. Still mostly cross gen. Yes cross gen lasts a couple years but we still had more current gen only games 2 years in previous generations. Get off your high horse, I've been at this longer than you.

If SE joins Sony - I hope PC ports will still come in.

Though would suck not to be able to play a SE game again on a future Nintendo system especially if its portable. Its the main reason why I multi dipped on the FF and other SE games on Switch.

Since even games that were from 1st party and expected to never release on PC were released I think SE will as well but will take longer than now.

I'd be surprised if it takes longer considering KH collection still isnt on Steam but it is on EGS for over a year now lol.

Eh, I'll still buy them on Playstation but still sucks that it'll be longer and the possibility of not releasing them.

Yep I'm not the biggest fan of making stuff that were multiplatform to be single.

My expectation is that this generation, the time difference for PlayStation games coming to PC will get shorter.
There was already a tease that Horizon Forbidden West and perhaps Gran Turismo would be on PC much sooner than even the 2 year mark that has been mentioned by Sony execs.

I'll make an outlandish prediction and say that by the end of this gen, most new PlayStation games will be day 1 on PC/PS5.

It will all depend on how much that impact sales of the consoles and the SW on console. Not impossible thought.

That's honestly what I'm thinking will happen. There's still a lot of PS4 games that would need to be ported over first, which so far seems to be Sony's strategy.

I wouldn't be surprised if we one day get a PS Launcher on PC with a shared trophy system when you link your PSN account. Which would be great when I consider I only recently 100% God of War on PC. So I would love for that progress to carry over. But I would also expect that the new PS Plus service would be added on PC in some capacity.

So far the rumors are that either Ghost of Tsushima or Sackboy: A Big Adventure would be the next PC releases after the Uncharted collection.

I do wonder though, has Sony said anything about what will happen to PS Now on PC come June? Like will it just straight up disappear since PS Now will no longer be a thing?

I would hope they re-release legacy collections like the R&C, inFamous, Killzone, Resistance, Jak, Sly, etc again on PS5/PC as well - not just brand new games lol

PS+ Premium will likely have them =p
