Forums - Sony Discussion - PlayStation Nation | an HBO original

@DonFerrari

You can argue that and many sites are indeed scoring it higher (Wired 9/10, Gaming Trend 9/10, GamesRader 9/10, Game Informer 9.1/10, CGMagazine 10/10, Digital Spy 10/10).

IGN's 2 negatives are that PS5 only has a few games not playable on PS4 and that its SSD is only 667GB. These points also apply to Xbox Series X but for instance PS3 didn't share its exclusives with PS2 and its small HDD wasn't as big of a problem as games were read from disc at the time. While it also had full BC with PS1 and PS2, it of course had its fair share of other problems.

So like always, scores are subjective and I really do think an 8/10 is reasonable.

PS5's acoustics taken from Dave2D's review. Nice and quiet console, finally.

Digital Foundry as well: "PlayStation 5 is larger than Xbox Series X, but it is also cooler. The key point is that the days of jet engine acoustics emanating from your Sony console are a thing of the past. (link)"

Yeah so glad not booting into a game expecting a harrier jet to turn on at any moments pass xD I can finally put my PS4 to rest.

Barely a difference between idle and full, and sincerely for me 54dB is no problem at all. Even 60 is not that much of a problem since I don't play on mute.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Will be fun to see if the people talking about PS5 melting down and being very noise will retract or keep pushing.

I don't get it, I've never heard the Ps4 being loud. mine hums quietly, I can hear the fan and all that, but all these jokes of it being a jet engine completely confuse me. I even have a launch model, and my roommate has a slim model and my brother has a pro model, none of which are particularly loud. I do notice it's slightly louder when I'm playing Red Dead and there are significant lighting effects, but other than that...barely any sound at all.

My Console Library:

PS5, Switch, XSX

PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360

3DS, DS, GBA, Vita, PSP, Android

Another review (this ones from NX Gamer). This one goes more indepth with UI and card implementation.

For PS5 games it looks like you can jump straight into a game, with no splash screens - from cards in home menu (at 1:30) via trophies and specific check points. Took him 6 seconds to get into Astrobot. Hopefully we get a continue game card in upcoming games.
