Forums - Sony Discussion - PlayStation Nation | an HBO original

NX Gamer has received his PS5. He's been testing the PS4 game patches with the PS4 Pro and it looks like they've implemented some of the Oodle texture compressed stuff already that will be used for next gen games.

What it means is PS5 games should have smaller footprint, higher quality assets and improved performance. On top of considerably lower load times. Pretty cool stuff.

Exactly two weeks from now.

Two weeks till NA launch? As @Hiku is the one updating the title of the thread, the countdown in here now follows the site he shared.

It counts down to New Zealand launch which is the first place in the World to get PS5: https://yourcountdown.to/playstation-5

Unless it's some kind of super rare hands off kinda deal where MS is more so just financially backing Bungie and reaping the multiplatform benefits, I have a really hard time seeing Bungie going back to MS.

I also don't necessarily see them joining SNY either, though I'd think that would be more likely than MS based on their PS4 relationship.

Wasn't Destiny (2) the big showcase game for the Stadia launch? Bungie wouldn't dare be acquired by Google would they?

Bold: Hopefully not. Rather Microsoft than Google. With Microsoft I can at least play the games on my PC.

Sony isn't fooling around these days.

For the past few years, Sony has shown great interest in expanding its 3 pillars of entertainment. Thus in the future, Games, Music, and Movies will be accompanied by Anime as a 4th pillar. Sony already owns Aniplex (one of the world's biggest and most popular anime production companies), Animax (the world's biggest anime television network and most popular anime distributor in Japan), Funimation (one of the world's biggest anime distributors and streaming services), and Manga Entertainment UK (the biggest and most popular anime distributor in the UK).

In April 2020, Sony also acquired a 5% minority stake in Bilibili (the biggest anime site in China) for $400m. And according to Nikkei Asia, the entertainment giant has now entered into final negotiations to acquire Crunchyroll (one of the world's biggest anime distributors and streaming services). Sony could pay more than $950m as talks wind up with parent AT&T (link).

This kinda tranforms it into being a Spider-Verse game. Brilliant addition.

Reading through the Ultimate Spiderman comics atm and getting hyped for this. Love the choppy animation thing they have going on, to replicate the cartoon frames feel.

The suit looks pretty good as well.

It's such a clever detail and Insomniac has confirmed that it's a suit mod that can be attached to other suits or unequipped if you just want the suit.

Insomniac is on a roll with Spider-Man and Ratchet & Clank. Those $229m that Sony paid for them is money well spent.

Looks like a load of updated games, nice :D Hopefully they'll add a 4K patch to GOW.

Digital Foundry posted their unboxing and impressions of the PS5 and Series X and Controllers. They seemed really impressed with the DualSense and Richard Leadbeater who is usually lets say a bit more Xbox biased (lol) called it revolutionary and John had nothing but praise for the controller.

That end tease as well. Something really surprising coming up.. Really want to know!
