I've heard this statement numerous times before, and here is the proof.
Alanis - Too Hot, released 1991. #1 song in Canada for a record breaking 66 weeks.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Not true, that song peaked at #14 in Canada, I have no idea where you got the #1 statistic from:

"Too Hot reached number 14 on the Canadian singles chart, but it was 1995's You Oughta Know that launched Alanis Morissette to international superstardom."

In HIMYM Robin said the '80s came to Canada in 1993.
But this song can't be used as a proof, it's a typical '90s song

The song in the OP? It can‘t get much more late 80s than this. Song and choreography are clearly inspired by Paula Abdul‘s smash hits from 1988.

That's a misquote. What they originally wrote was #1 for 14 months in a row.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Most of early '90s songs are similar to the song in the OP, like Poison by Bell Biv Devoe, or even the opening of Living In Color
