''Hadouken!''

I've received a reply from Pete Züge at SIEA:

Good evening Mr BKK2

The value of the hardware retail sales in 2007 was approx. 200 Mio CHF and for games approx. 200 Mio CHF as well. The source is Media Control, pls find more details in the attached press-release.

If you have more questions, pls don't hesitate to contact us

Regards
Pete Züger

(I changed my name to my forum alias in this quote)

The total for HW, SW, and Accessories was 420 Mio CHF, so we can deduct 20 Mio CHF for accessories.

I notice the person who compiled this list used current X-rates, and not X-rates from Jan 1st 08. X-rate was 0.8830022075 USD/ 1 CHF which gives a total of $353m for 2007 HW & SW

Does anyone have more data? BKK2?

This proves ms is winning UK and Us are biggest markets for them WHo cares about japan.  Europe sony only has small lead.  The profit is all in software and peripherals.

Love is whats most important.

@BKK: In first post there is a table. You could either create a new table in Rich Text Reply or copy the table from the first post and change numbers. The second way could be better as I think that you can't copy data to a table in a easy way and if you would take table from first post you would only have to change cells that are different.

UK is huge!

Maybe now the console manufactuers will stop treating us like crap. It seems we are now the most important market.

@BKK2

"But the Pound is at record lows versus the Euro. You dismiss the UK because the dollar is weak, and then dismiss it because the Euro is strong, you can't have it both ways."

The £ > Euro > US$

The Euro is gaining on the pound and pulling away from the dollar. The pound may be weak but is still more valuable than the euro (for now anyway).

cool, UK sales are amazing - i can believe it though most people i know own at least one games console.

I wasn't suggesting the pound is weak, just that the Dollar is weak, and the Euro is strong. Pound is somewhere in the middle.

The £ > Euro > US$

How do you work that out? Surely not that £1 is literally worth more than €1? If that's the case then the Thai Baht is more valuable than the Japanese Yen.
