Forums - General - I need some help.

Ok, so I'm in need of a DVD player. My PS3 is hooked up to my TV, but my buddy wants to watch movies half the times when I'm playing games. So, he finally got a TV, but has had some troubles locating a good DVD player. Being a college student, his budget is limited, so he's looking for something preferably in the sub- $100 range. (even better if its around $50). I've looked around, and found a few that seem promising, but they aren't from brands that I recognize, so I'd rather not get them. Do you guys know of any inexpencive, decent quality DVD players?

Well,if you get it from a store like Wal-Mart, the no-name player might not be a bad idea. It only has to last until you're no longer college students and have promissing careers in one of the Philosophy firms.

Maybe he might be willing to go for the used route if he really wants a name brand.

Seriously, I own a no-name HDTV I purchased from Wal-Mart Canada and it is flawless. I was worried at first, but I cannot be more happy with its price/quality ratio (value).

Beggars can't be choosers. Your friend isn't exactly begging but when you're on a tight budget you can't be too choosy.

I wouldn't be too worried choosing the off brand DVD players. Go to Amazon, NewEgg, or other popular places and read the user reviews of the ones he's eying and go from there.

it doesn't rlly matter is u can't recognize the brand. DVD is old technology so I'm sure the quality differences are very small nowadays

Thanks, guys. The main reason I was skeptical was because my dad got a DVD player from a company I didn't recognize and the thing died the next month.
@twesterm
Yeah, he just doesn't want to buy one only to have it die in a few months.

Go to the website listed at the end of this post and click on "Top User Rated" and look for one that's in your friend's price range.

If I was him I would just buy a cheap player for like 25$ at Wal-mart, it's not a big waste of money and they will probably last a while.
