you bring on Zelda screenshots and argue that they look much better than last-gen games? You know that Zelda is a Gamecube game that only has motion controls on the Wii? It looks almost exactly the same on Wii and on Gamecube if I am not mistaken (Wii has 16:9 or something). PErsonally I think the second to last GoW screenshot looks the best from all but perhaps that is so because I loved God of War2.
But in the end: Yes the Wii is more powerful than the PS2, than the Gamecube, probably even the XBOX. But it is much nearer to them (esp. the XBOX) than to the 360/PS3/actual gaming PCs. I look at your screenshots and I see some differences but hardly in the same league as when you compare them to the almost perfect Gran Turismo screenshot above. Do you agree?

That even proofs further that the wii is alot more advanced graphically than the ps2. I say the difference between the wii and ps2 is the exact same difference between the wii and hd consoles. This is first year wii graphics btw going against 6th year ps2 graphics , and it's still pulling superior. It takes about 2-3yrs to get the most out of a consoles graphics.

This comment is so funny. Your so far from the reality it's hard to take you seriously. The difference between Wii and HD consoles is far greater than Wii to PS2.

You want a screenshot comparison:

People thought that WoW was better in terms of graphics ? lol yeah F1ckin right , they musta be too busy playing 80 hours to realised the difference.

@ FJ , I never said the PS2 version looked better , I said I didn't think those pics where very good representations of how superior the Wii is to the PS2 , I mean the graphical leap was neglible in those screenshots , honestly.

Forget all the technical crap , the Wii screenshots only looks slightly better than the GoW one.

Um isn't the title of the thread technicaly. Seriously it's the technical stuff that pushes a console not how good it looks.

 Exactly right.

The technical gap between the wii and the PS3/360 is big.

The PS3/360 can handle more polygons, more textures, more lighting, more draw distance, more AI,  etc, than what the Wii can handle, and it all simply comes down to the hardware each console has, there is no denying that the hardware in the PS3/360 is simply more powerful than the wii hardware, and by that right they can achieve allot more things technically than the wii and to say other wise is foolish and well...just a blind fanboy.

Now all those that for some reason want or expect the wii to have PS3/360 like visuals, here's a question, why do you have those expectations?

I mean from the get go Nintendo was about gameplay over graphics, Nintendo made that quite clear with the wii specs, so I don't really understand why people would then buy a wii and then expect it to have the visuals of it's competitors but at 480p, it makes no sense, I mean it's not like Nintendo this generation went the graphics route, so to expect it to have the graphics of its competitors is almost an admission that either they bought the wrong console, or simply are graphic whores in denial and just wish their chosen console pleased the graphic whore in them.

Now I'm not saying the wii has crap graphics, cause their are games that prove that the wii is capable of providing some good looking graphics, but their simply is no denying that the PS3 and 360 are simply capable of producing even better graphics, in essence, anything the wii can do the PS3 and 360 can do better, speaking technically that is and of course not involving the controls.

my 2 cents on the matter :)

How about you fine official nintendo wii specs. ALso while you are at it why don't you just not compare specs at all seeing as you are using an elementary process of comparing them , and saying you are right. ALso why don't YOU explain to me rather than getting some specs and splattering them on the forum.

That would be valid if that was what we were doing. We were comparing the ps2 , and the wii rather than the wii , and the hd consoles. Nobody said the wii was capable of the same things as the hd consoles.

@million, from what I can see this thread has been about porting and multi-platform games. Thus, gameplay and sales performance are certainly important.
