I have no idea what the lead platform for sonic is, but, I have said many many times that it is inevitable that the Wii will be the console where he greater majority of multi-platform games are developed, then ported to PS360.

I really can't wait for this to become the primary way all games are made as that will make the Wii games significantly better since they won't be based of off PS2 hardware.

PS360 won't be affected as much as so many of you think as they will still be better looking than their Wii counter parts as they would include many higher level graphics techs that the Wii can't do. Well, at least good developers would insure that is taken into consideration.

There is no way in a million years that a game that will want to sell at all on the PS360 will be developed for the Wii first and then ported. I can imagine, the amount of time to add the extra detail, effect, control schemes, online play, physics and superior sound, they might as well develop it from scratch.

If a game comes out that does not feature those improvements for the PS360 version compared to the Wii version, then it will be no match graphically to the other PS360 games and ulitmately fail in the sales department....

 That just proves thatps3/360 fans are graphic whores.

If you really think that graphics don't matter at all then you should just stand outside your nearest electronics store and start preaching the power of the SD way of life and how it was better in the 1990s than it is now.

For me graphics is about immersion and getting into the story more. The cartooney graphics you find in 90% of Wii games do not cut it for me any more, it's called technological advancement and I don't see the reason why I should compromise anymore...

End of 2009 ltd sales:

Wii = 67-68m

X360 = 38-39m

PS3 = 34-35m

Prediction: The PS3 will surpass the 360 on weekly sales after it drops to $299 on all regular weeks (no big releases).

@ FJ , I never said the PS2 version looked better , I said I didn't think those pics where very good representations of how superior the Wii is to the PS2 , I mean the graphical leap was neglible in those screenshots , honestly.

Forget all the technical crap , the Wii screenshots only looks slightly better than the GoW one.

Um isn't the title of the thread technicaly. Seriously it's the technical stuff that pushes a console not how good it looks.

 You statement is kinda contradictory , It's incredibly hard to achieve something that [looks] superior to it's predecessors without being more technicay advanced.

We will see more good wii games , because weren't they using Gamecube dev kits for a year. I believe nintendo just released the wii ones. ALso people who compare the specs are forgetting they aren't official, and nintendo hasn't released any specs.

Same logic error I always see. Why do you all think it will be so hard to add some additional graphics/sound features, or at least just as hard to build a whole game?

For one, most Wii games are developed with more than one control scheme. Wii games already have an online feature. Better sound isn't that hard to add. The only 'difficult' part would be the additional graphics tools. However, that has already been made easier in that every engine out there is a cross platform engine. They are designed to be relatively easily used to port games. Sure, the PS360 versions won't be as much of a difference to the Wii's version had they been build seperately. But, it comes down to profitability. To be the most profitable they will be Wii build and ported.

I'm not a developer and can't really comment on the effot it takes to upconver these games, but i imagine the huge budgets of PS360 games are mostly due to the graphics and sound than anything else, so I imagine the effort should be needed...

World of Warcraft vs. Everquest 2 disagress with you.

Everquest 2 was a more advanced game graphically in (pretty much) every way, but the artistic style and character of World of Warcraft was so much better that most people think it is the better 'looking' game ...

@sc49 , with the Wii's price point (and nintnendo profiting off the Wii) how advanced do you think the Wii could be ?

Even if the Wii achieved graphics 2X SMG at the end of it's lifespan , it would even tocuh Resistance 1.

There are many games that take art design over technicallity. Okami for example is not technically advanced at all despite being one of the most beautiful games if not THE most beautiful game. Looks are a matter of opinion. Now the things like polygons,lighting,textures,shaders,resolution, are what take up your processing speeds and ram. You guys really need to seperate LOOKS and GRAPHICS because they are two different things.

@HappySquirrel , I won't dispute that with you since I can't be bothered to compare screenshots , but generaly you can't deny that i'm infact correct.

@Sc94 , Graphics help games [look] better , granted that superior graphics may not mean superior [looks] but in general it does , that's why the PS3/XBOX360 with better graphics [look] better than most Wii games.

 I never said that graphics matter alot, but if a  game plays well are you not going to buy the game , because it has shitty wii graphics?

You're making the assumption that Sega would benefit by putting the same level of effort into a Sonic the Hedgehog game that Epic puts into Gears of War 2. For Sega it may make more sense to have higher detail textures and models (in comparison to the Wii version), with additional lighting and texture effects than it would be to create 2 entirely seperate versions of the game; in particular, with one version that truely pushes the PS3 and XBox 360.
