Forums - Nintendo - Labo is a huge ripoff and a waste of a great concept (so far)

I have been in the same room when it was being played. And just like with other hastily made software, it's easy to tell that not much effort has been put to it.

That's like going to Target and judging a game based on a kiosk. "Oh it was there when I was in the store so therefore I can give a 100% concise review"

I think you know that you can pretty accurately tell how much effort was put into a game by watching it being played. Or are you saying that I have to play games like Life of a Black Tiger before I can say that it's low quality. And the reviewers, and this particular kid who I watched play it, have said that the games are pretty poor and lack longevity and variety. Why can't you accept it?

If the criticism were from an impartial poster, I'd have no qualms regarding the validity of your critique. However I've seen your posts and they're very biased against Nintendo.

Again LABO is aimed towards children, I find things like Lego and Barbie low rent as well. However I'm not going to say those items are worth $5 because they do not appeal to me. Makes zero sense like I said earlier.

So you think the reviewers are also biased against Nintendo, since you don't accept their criticism? Makes zero sense, like you said.

I thought the accusation was reviewers are biased of Nintendo, considering some aren't accepting the high scores of Zelda and Mario. :P

Anyway, I think there's more to it than what you probably saw, which I don't know how much, mind you. I've seen videos of Labo being used in unique ways, like being used to start an electronic wheelchair or having multiple Switch consoles utilize the Labo game in a variety of ways. Its a game, or an application, whatever you want to call it, that seems to go as far as the imagination goes. Children tend to have crazy imaginations, sometimes even adults as well. And those are the demographics Nintendo marketed this product to.

If you don't like it, that's fine. It somehow managed to be among the top sellers for April's NPD and there are about 200K Labo owners in Japan. May not much, but apparently some people have been interested in the product to sell along those lines.

The reviewers were saying the product is worth $5-10? Source?

I said that "Reviewers, and this particular kid who I watched play it, have said that the games are pretty poor and lack longevity and variety." I don't know how much they would value it money-wise, but probably not much. And I said that the games that come with LABO should cost 5-10$.

Yes, the software is as basic as it gets. I can't fathom how it could be valued at anymore than $20 absolute max, more than likely less than that. So what are they charging that extra $50 for? The cardboard I guess, and therein lies where my "ripoff" claims come from.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

I can say from experience that the fishing rod game is addictive as hell.
