Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Reveals New Action-RPG For Smartphones

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hGr2X31Gy8

Earlier this year, Nintendo announced that new Mario Kart game, Mario Kart Tour, is on the way to smartphones. And now, Nintendo has announced yet another smartphone game: an action RPG called Dragalia Lost.

Jointly developed by Nintendo and studio Cygames, Dragalia Lost is described as a "new gaming experience with worldwide appeal." The game will launch first this summer in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau, before coming to North America and Europe later. Additionally, Nintendo has purchased 5 percent of Cygames' outstanding stock as part of this deal. Specific financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In December last year, a report said Nintendo failed to development smartphone games fast enough to meet demand and was trying to partner with new companies to catch up. The report claimed Nintendo spoke with Puzzle & Dragons developer GungHo about a potential partnership, though at the time there was no mention of Cygames being in the mix. Nintendo is already working with DeNA on mobile games, and Nintendo owns a 10 percent stake in that studio. As it happens, DeNA owns more than 20 percent of Cygames, so all three companies--Nintendo, DeNA, and Cygames--are linked to an extent.

Looks like my kind of game. And I’ll be able to play it on my iPad!

PC GAMING: BEST GAMES. WORST CONTROLS

A mouse & keyboard are made for sending email and typing internet badassery. Not for playing video games!!!

I don't really want to add another mobile game to my phone, but hey, this game has some cool looking characters. I guess I'll have to check it out when it launches.

Thats good. Nintendo should stay away from a "Super Mario Run" payment style

If this is even 10% as big as Granblue that would be a pretty solid hit. Nintendo and Cygames is a partnership I can definitely see working well. Both have very dedicated fans and both are focused primarily on portable software. Curious if that means the PS4 Granblue title will eventually be ported to Switch.

There's a Mario Kart coming to mobile? News to me.
