Don't really know but I think sometimes its down to the following:
a) said 'hater' is a Sony or Nintendo fan already from previous generations
b) said 'hater is already an MS hater as MS is far from a popular company
c) MS is seen as a hostile, US company using money and brash tactics to push into the videogame industry
d) MS is seen as using unfair tactics - buying exclusive DLC, backing HD to harm BR rather than because MS believed in HD, etc. (note I'm not saying they are unfair, only that others do find them so)
e) RROD and 'stealing' of PC games genres and gamers to consoles (based on the massive skew of its big titles to classic PC FPS / Online genres)
f) The fact it didn't 'give up' when it should have based on relative failure of Xbox
g) Just because...
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
I dont hate my 360. I really like 360 no matter what people said.
Proud owner of all three consoles and handhelds.

Bear in mind most PC's have MS Windows software on them. So a change to 360 or PS3 is well just trying something different with games that PC gamer is used to.
So if people hate MS so much how come your OS is MS Windows?
People hate consoles that are in competition with their own choice because they don't want to waste money.
People who hate 360's are generally PS3 owners because they see it as a threat. Same applies the other way round. Thats my take on it.
Why would a ps3 owner hate Microsoft for having the RROD, i think they would actually like Microsoft for that!
Both Sony and Microsoft will do very well this generation so neither owner has to worry about having wasted money on an obsolete console.
Just don't expect one to beat the other by a huge margin like last gen because both are doing and will continue to do very well in my opinion.
i don't hate the 360, i have one and i really like it. i just dislike the people who make it out to be the best console in he market, when it clearly isn't. all console's have their strengths and weaknesses.
but to be honest, the 360 has the least momentum out of the big 3 this year, so naturally it will be seen in a bad light until something is done about it. the ps3 wented through it badly last year, sony managed to recover, can microsoft recover? we'll see.
Probably because the least-represented console on a given forum tends to be the least defended, therefore most bashed.
Discussions on VGC per Manufacturer type via offical forums:
Nintendo: 47.9%
Sony: 31.2%
Microsoft: 21.0%
So guess which one gets picked on the most?
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Bingo. Except I'd say, MS better be prepared to take it (the loss in overall profitability, by far, to Sony and PS3) because their viral marketing campaign earned them every bit of derision they get now, after making PS fans suffer for a couple years. Some MS fans, too, deserve the delicious reversal we've seen. Only some..they know who they are, and they mostly hide now, rather than post, across the Internet.
I used to read Hi Def Digest forums and it was funny how at one point the HD-DVD crowd was really rabid and dominant. In time, they were broken completely by reality and the BDA. Parallel?
