especially with how limited the game line up was, aside from zelda, what else are they gonna buy for the next 7 months?

Yes because people totally spend $60 on games they dont want.

In the ~7.5 months between BotW & SMO there was Mario Kart, Lego City, Street Fighter, Puyo Puyo Tetris, Disgaea, ARMS, Splatoon, Minecraft, NBA Playgrounds, Cars, Cave Story, Mario Rabbids, Pokken, Rayman Legends, FIFA, NBA 2K, Golf Story, Azure Striker, DB Xenoverse, FE Warriors, Nights of Azure, Stardew Valley, Steamworld Dig 2.

This includes 1st, 2nd & 3rd party games, from Japanese, western and indie developers, aimed at kids, teens and adults.....there were no other options!!!!

Also, its been about a year since it launched, why is MK8D still one of the best selling titles on a weekly basis? I mean shouldnt the sales be dropping as the library grows if people were just buyimg it from a lack of options?

thats why i said nintendo fans, which is why they buy nintedo consoles, its no secret none of those games are pulling in big sales, except for nintendo games, splatoon mainly in japan, but in WW its mario, zelda and MK8, and those are must haves for nintendo fans buying a new console.

how is selling on 2 platforms irrelevant? now thats its down to 1 platform?

Because those people dont just cease to exist now that Smash is being released on a single platform.

we don't know how many fans bought both versions, games will always get inflated sales when on 2 platforms, but well see soon enough.

Ironic how the main protester against the validity of Amazon sales charts is in here stirring up major commotion.

Meanwhile...back at the ranch, Labo is slowly creeping up the hourly chart (#11)

Smash 4 did ~14 million, yes its on 2 platforms but thats irrelevent, you dont segregate the sales of cross-gen/multiplatform games.

If somebody asks you how much FIFA 18 or COD: WWII sold, you would say over 15m and over 18m. You wouldnt just take the sales of a single sku to determine its sales.

I think they mean for the fact that it's not just a home console. It's also a portable and the game sells netter on portables. If people het the opportunity to play smash on the go they'll do it. The fact that they can play on the go with only one console? That's something completely new on the fact that you only need ONE console for more than one person to play. That Whitwell will make it all the more attractive. I honestly don't know how it will sell but the impressions I'm getting everyone expects it to do proper Amazing numbers. We'll see.

Nah I don't buy thay for a second. I think as you stated the Wii U was mostly Nintendo fans. If you look at Nintendos own data the Switch is being bought by a whole different group of people. Which makes sense. MK8D might have been bought for the reasons you stated but it's not because the majority of wii u owners bought a Switch and that they bought a second copy.

who knows, but i think most mario kart fans that owned it on wiiu would love a portable version.

How can you in the same post talk about double dipping by those who were on the Wii U in the case of Mario Kart, yet be unable to project same for the Switch........when the switch is currently on track to more than double the Wii U by the end of the year ?

Furthermore, isnt it a bit absurd to assume that a great majority of Wii U owners just chucked their Wii Us away immediately the Switch was released with no evidence that the Wii U is now worth nothing in the second hand market.

What really is so difficult to accept in the reality that the Switch to a large extent unifies both the Wii U and 3DS userbases hence any game released on it can and should be projected based on a combination of those 2 systems past selling patterns.

What exactly is your argument by the way ? Can you frame it precisely in one post ? with figures and numbers that you will stand by and not dance away from later.
