Forums - Gaming - What's the most overrated game ever in your opinion?

I've never come across someone who thought waiting for the enemy to attack was an issue in Zelda. This is hilarious.

Either way, this is clearly not an objective counterpoint of the game, as well as almost everything else you said. Like "Too many things were hidden from the player"

Isn't it even something positive when there is much fo the player to discover? lol

By the way, I did not need an faq to play through the game and I was like 11 years old...

Yeah, you being old doesn't make your definitions of genres right, by the way. Especially considering you aren't even using the proper term for Zelda ... an "Action/Adventure" game, not a "pseudo rpg".

Also how dare you call me Kathy Newman. Take that back.

Egoraptor already elaborated on that point. I'm not wasting my time explaining in detail all the little things that this game hasn't aged well and wasn't particularly good even for its time. And yes, you actually have to watch the whole video.

Oh I see, so you are referring to a youtuber...  I'll definitely not watch that 30 minute hate video.

So if you and that youtuber think OoT is overrated, well there you go but the points you mentioned in this thread were not backing that claim up.

*sigh* How reasoned and intelligent of you. Completely disregard my points because you like a game, refuse to watch videos assuming it's just a 'hate video' (when in reality it's a detailed breakdown of game mechanics and design aspects comparing it to Link to the Past), and completely dismissing my arguments without offering counterpoints beyond 'well it was popular so you're wrong."

And this is why I don't bother explaining in great detail my stance when discussing things on the internet. People like you are why anything I'd say would be lost to the wind and a waste of my time. I've explained my points, I've presented my reasoning for my stance, and you haven't countered my points with a single, reasonable counterpoint. And no, "You have to wait for the enemy to act in turn based RPGs" is not a reasonable counterpoint.

I countered them with counterpoints. You have a strange method of getting out of an argument acting like you had proven the other one wrong, while all you did was post a 30 minute long video and expect the other to watch it.

Major props to get through the water temple without a guide, that thing was a bitch

And as an aside, can we either change the title of the thread or clarify what 'overrated' means? The reality is that a lot of people here are spouting nonsense, where they are treating this not as a thread about overrated games, but are treating it as a thread about popular games they dislike.

Example, overrated game: Halo.
Example, popular game I don't like: Horizon: Zero Dawn

The difference is that Halo is a mediocre game that gets praise, while Horizon: Zero Dawn is a game that truly does deserve all its praise but I just couldn't get into. Tried playing it a half dozen times and I didn't personally get into it, but could barely think of any REAL flaws (as in, actual problems with the game, not just personal preferences.)

Almost everyone in this thread is just listing off popular games they don't like without reason or explanation. Maybe I'll actually make a thread about precisely that!

A popular game I dislike is probably overrated.

Just like a popular game you dislike is halo.

And people have reasons to give, they just dont type em out, because the OP didnt ask "why".

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

For me, the halo series. Always get bored halfway through those games.

Same here...so utterly generic. I still remember being hyped by all the reviews for Halo and how disappointed I was about the final game. Tried it again with 3 and 5...couldn’t even make it half though because if the bland writing and generic design.

For me it must be

Dragon Age Inquisition

What a pile of mediocre shit that game was. I remember never being so disappointed in a game my whole life. Still can’t believe it won GOTY that year (granted it was a very weak year).
