Forums - Gaming Discussion - Rumor: Call of Duty 2019 is Modern Warfare 4

They really should alternate on a three year cycle between Historical, Modern and Future setting. BlackOps, Modern Warfare, WWI/II/etc. So this wouldn't surprise me if true, though they should drop the number from the name and just subtitle it.

I still can't believe they thought Advance Warfare, Black Ops 3 and Infinite Warfare, 3 futuristic games all in a row, was a good idea. Just look at IW's sales.

But the Modern Warfare line is over. This doesn't make sense, but it actually does in business perspective.
I mean who would buy Infinity Warfare 2 😈

I'm hyped. 2 great Cod series. Black Ops this year and Modern Warfare next year. So stocked.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Maybe that CoD MW4 was actually counted for the CoD MW1 remake?

Apparently he only recently added the 4 to his twitter bio, or so that's what I'm hearing anyway.

It does make sense. After 2 disappointing new IP releases from Infinity Ward in a row, I can see Activision wanting them to go back to their original cash cow franchise, MW.

Ah well if it's recently added then it could definitely be.  And yea IW was on top of their game with the MW series but been going downhill since their last two.  A new MW4 would definitely help them out and I've been wanting a new modern FPS for awhile.  Tired of all their futuristic stories.  At one point IW, Treyarch and Sledgehammer were making futuristic CoD one after another and got really bland.

2017 Classic war
2018 Future war
2019 Modern war

My prediction in 2021.

SW: 30m

PS5 16m

XBS: 7.5m

And... the slow march back to jet pack bullshit begins.

Seems to have changed it to MW Remastered. If he had re-recorded the voice work for MW and MW2 that's rumoured to be coming out he might have got confused.

Hmm, pie.

Just here to defend Infinite Warfare. I'd argue it has the best campaign in the series. Multiplayer is a mess, yes, and I suppose that's what most folks care about.

I agree with you there. I honestly enjoyed the singleplayer in all 3 Shadow Infinity Ward games (MW3, Ghosts, and IW), but IW campaign was exceptional, best CoD campaign since MW2 in 2009 imo. Unfortunately, Shadow Infinity Ward has only made 1 good CoD game from a MP standpoint, MW3, and Sledgehammer assisted with the MP on it before becoming a full fledged studio.

While IW campaign was definitely way better than BO3, it is hard to call it the best since MW2 especially because there was BO1. The problem with IW campaign is that while it had promising beginning, the game ended pretty quick. It’s campaign is like 4 hours in total. It is excluding side missions which were annoying and didn’t make almost any sense to the story. They looked like they were put there because devs were too lazy to put classic linear story missions instead of them. And overall if you look at IW campaign it looks like it is a story about huge war in space which feels like lasted for 2 days or so.
